RJ Scaringe, Rivian‘s CEO, revealed this Wednesday that the company has reached a significant milestone, with its 100,000th unit rolling off the assembly line in Normal, Illinois.
In September 2021, Rivian marked its first customer vehicle rolling off the production line and being delivered. By February 2023, the electric vehicle manufacturer had achieved the production of its first 25,000 units.
NEVER MISS AN UPDATE
On Tuesday, Rivian disclosed its first-quarter figures, indicating the production of 13,980 vehicles, with 13,588 successfully delivered to customers. Despite initially forecasting a 10-15% Quarter over Quarter decline from the fourth quarter, Rivian remains on course and has reaffirmed its 2024 production target of 57,000 vehicles.
In the previous month, Rivian introduced its latest midsize platform, serving as the foundation for both the R2 and R3 product lines. The company shared intentions to produce the R2 models at their existing U.S. facility, leading to anticipated savings exceeding $2 billion.
At the time, Rivian said that the R2 model is “expected to start around $45,000” and R3 “will be priced below R2”, marking Rivian’s new lower cost vehicles. Deliveries of the R2 are expected to begin in the first half of 2026 in the United States.
The company will report its first-quarter 2024 financial results after the market closes on May 7th.
