Rivian‘s R1S is set to become the first electric SUV in Fortnite and Rocket League, both developed by Epic Games, alongside a custom livery tied to the company’s recently launched performance-focused division.
The screenshots, shared on X by ‘Hilbe’ and credited to Fortnite dataminer ‘NJSpiderDenny’, show the R1S listed as a “Rivian Series” car body priced at 3,600 V-Bucks in Fortnite’s Item Shop.
The vehicle is playable across Battle Royale and Rocket Racing modes, and purchasing it also unlocks the model in Rocket League.
A custom decal called “R.A.D.” — short for Rivian Adventure Department — is available alongside the base vehicle, featuring a teal, orange, and yellow retro livery that references the adventure unit Rivian formally launched in late February.
Earlier this week, dataminers had identified a fully modelled Rivian vehicle inside Fortnite’s files, with multiple X users reporting the model was scheduled for update v40.10, expected on April 1.
The Fortnite update v40.10 is expected on April 1 as part of Chapter 7 Season 2, which launched on March 19.
RAD Connection
The R.A.D. decal ties the Fortnite placement directly to Rivian’s newest brand initiative.
The Rivian Adventure Department, announced in late February, is a team of designers, engineers, and adventure enthusiasts tasked with exploring the limits of Rivian‘s vehicles and translating those findings into customer-facing features.
“RAD represents the living, breathing expression of the passion that defines Rivian,” Chief Design Officer Jeff Hammoud said at launch. “It is the very DNA of our entire company.”
The unit traces its origins to Rivian‘s 2023 Rebelle Rally victory — the first by an EV in the longest off-road rally in the United States — and back-to-back Pikes Peak production electric truck records in 2023 and 2024.
RAD made its official debut at the 2026 FAT Ice Race in Big Sky, Montana, competing with a Quad R1S.
RAD also introduced RAD Tuner, a software feature that allows Gen 2 Quad owners to create custom drive modes in real time, adjusting power output, torque bias, stability control, and brake regeneration.
EVs in Fortnite
Fortnite, which has more than 400 million registered accounts, has featured only a handful of fully electric vehicles.
Tesla‘s Cybertruck was the first branded EV added to the game, arriving in July 2024 during Chapter 5 Season 3. Dodge‘s Charger Daytona Scat Pack followed during Chapter 6 Season 2.
The Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari 296 GTB are also playable, though both are plug-in hybrids.
The vast majority of the game’s branded vehicle roster — including Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, and Land Rover — consists of internal combustion models.
The R1S is the first electric SUV in Fortnite and the first vehicle from a pure-play EV maker other than Tesla.
Rivian has previously acknowledged that brand awareness remains limited outside coastal US markets.
Rivian x EpicGames
The collaboration is not new. Rivian‘s in-vehicle infotainment system runs on Epic’s Unreal Engine, the same technology that powers both Fortnite and Rocket League.
In 2023, Epic used a photorealistic R1T modelled with 71 million polygons to demonstrate Unreal Engine 5.2 at the Game Developers Conference.
In November 2024, Qualcomm and Epic announced a joint effort to enhance digital cockpit experiences using Unreal Engine on Snapdragon platforms, with Rivian among the featured partners.
