The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has certified Rivian’s 2026 model-year quad-motor versions of its R1T electric truck and R1S SUV.
According to the certification documents, the 2026 R1S Quad Max with 22-inch Ultra High Performance (UHP) wheels achieves an EPA estimated range of about 359 miles in “Conserve” mode and 315 miles in “All-Purpose” mode.
Rivian’s quad-motor setup pairs four 201-horsepower permanent magnet motors with the Max Pack, which provides a usable capacity of about 140 kWh.
Models fitted with 20-inch All-Terrain (AT) wheels showed lower range estimates, with the R1S Quad Max rated at approximately 350 miles in Conserve mode and around 300 miles in All-Purpose mode.
Larger wheel and tire packages typically reduce range due to higher rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag.
The company stated in its EPA certification that its upgraded thermal management system and proprietary heat pump are designed to enhance cold-weather efficiency and real-world driving range compared to earlier launch models.
The certification confirms that the vehicles comply with U.S. Tier 3 Bin 0 emissions standards and California’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) requirements for medium-duty passenger vehicles, according to the application signed by Rivian’s homologation director Sep Zaker.
The EV maker released last week its pricing details for the 2026 model-year models. However, the prices for the Quad motor variants have not yet been revealed.
The 2026 R1S SUV will start at $76,990 for the Dual-Motor Standard variant, while the 2026 R1T pickup begins at $70,990, according to the company.
Earlier this month, tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) inadvertently revealed Rivian’s upcoming 2026 R1T Quad Motor pickup in a now-deleted video posted on X.
The clip offered an early look at design updates, including Rivian’s new front-left NACS charging port, confirming the brand’s switch to Tesla’s connector for all 2026 models.
The truck shown featured 22-inch Ultra High Performance wheels, a returning “Launch Green” color exclusive to the Quad trim, and unique teal badging and brake calipers.
