In addition to the existing Dual and Quad-Motor AWD configurations, Rivian will now offer a third option with the Tri-Motor AWD variant. Furthermore, customers will have the choice between the new “Premium” trim level and the existing “Adventure” and “Entry” options.

The factory will undergo temporary closure from this Friday, April 5th, until the end of the month for the implementation of new technologies and production methods aimed at substantial cost reduction.

On Tuesday, the company reported 13,980 vehicles produced in the first quarter of the year of which 13,588 were delivered to its customers. Despite having previously guided a 10-15% Quarter over Quarter drop from the fourth quarter, Rivian is on track and reaffirmed its 2024 production guidance of 57,000 vehicles.

At the time, Rivian said that the R2 model is “expected to start around $45,000” and R3 “will be priced below R2”, marking Rivian’s new lower cost vehicles. Deliveries of the R2 are expected to begin in the first half of 2026 in the United States.
