Rivian Plant Escapes Damage as Fire Destroys Vehicles in Illinois [Video]

Electric vehicle maker Rivian is currently investigating a fire that damaged several vehicles at its Normal, Illinois plant. The company confirmed that the facility remains unaffected and reported no injuries related to the incident.

According to local news sources, the fire, which broke out in the plant’s parking lot, was contained by the Normal Fire Department by midnight on Saturday, though firefighters remained on site afterward.

Here’s a video from the fire at the company’s plant in Illinois.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, with Rivian noting in a statement that it is working to determine what led to the incident.

“Vehicles in a parking lot on the northeast side of the building were in flames,” said Meteorologist Jacob Dickey adding that “the main building is not impacted and the fire is out”.

“We are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a number of vehicles in a parking lot at our Normal plant late Saturday night. The plant itself is unaffected. At this time, we are not aware of any injuries.”
