Rivian Delivers 10,000 More Vans to Amazon in First Half of 2025

Amazon now has more than 30,000 electric delivery vans from operating in the United States, up from 20,000 reported at the end of last year.

The update, published on Amazon’s website late last week, indicates that Rivian delivered about 10,000 additional vans over the past six months as part of a long-term agreement to supply 100,000 electric vehicles by 2030.

Amazon began deploying the custom-built vans in mid-2022. The company said its Rivian fleet delivered more than one billion packages in 2024 alone.

“Amazon is committed to decarbonizing its delivery fleet and has rolled out more than 30,000 custom electric delivery vans across the U.S.,” the company said in the June 19 update.

Amazon first announced its partnership with Rivian in 2019 as part of its pledge to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The companies collaborated to develop a purpose-built electric delivery vehicle.

Rivian had supplied 15,000 vans by August 2024 and expanded that number to more than 20,000 by December.

The latest figures suggest Rivian increased its production rate to about 1,700 vans per month in recent months, up from around 700 per month early in the rollout.

Roughly 300 Rivian vans have been deployed in Germany, with the vast majority used for Amazon’s U.S. delivery network.

Media outlet The Information reported earlier this month that Amazon is developing AI-enabled humanoid robots to assist with deliveries and plans to test them alongside Rivian vans at a facility in San Francisco, citing a person familiar with the matter.

As of the time of writing, Rivian shares are trading 1.5% higher at $13.77. Year to date, the stock has gained about 4%.
