EV maker Rivian announced on Tuesday it is providing free DC fast charging at its Rivian Adventure Network stations within 150 miles of Los Angeles to support evacuees affected by the recent wildfires.

Tesla announced last week that it temporarily lifted active strikes on vehicles in California that would otherwise limit access to its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) software).

The charging stations are located in San Bernardino, Buttonwillow, Barstow, Inyokern, and Joshua Tree. Additionally, Rivian has also opened its South Coast Theater in Laguna Beach as a rest stop for evacuees.

“With so many evacuating south, we’re honored to offer the Rivian South Coast Theater in Laguna Beach as a place to rest, charge devices or hop on our WiFi, or to simply find a moment of peace. Our doors are open,” Rivian said in a statement.

The company added it is discussing with first responders on further assistance.

Last week, Rivian provided several vehicles to support the World Central Kitchen, the Labelle Foundation, OpenClosit, SolarPunks, and other associations “to transport clothing, relief supplies and support emergency response.”

“Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the devastating wildfires. Over the past week, many of our colleagues, along with family, friends, and loved ones, have faced unimaginable loss and challenges”, the company said in a statement. “We stand in full support of the impacted communities.”
