New details of Onvo’s second model, the L90 SUV, were leaked on Weibo on Monday, outlining updated trim levels, driving range and energy consumption.
A separate blogger posted official images showing two new exterior colour options for the second model of Nio‘s family-oriented sub-brand. Both leaks come about a week before the SUV’s official launch.
According to the specs leaked, the model will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive options, the six-seater will be featured in Pro, Max and Ultra versions.
The Pro and Max versions will be rear-wheel drive (RWD), while the Ultra version will feature all-wheel drive (AWD). The Max and Ultra trims will be equipped with air suspension.
The brand had previously only mentioned that the L90 came standard with a 85 kWh battery.
However, the leaked in-car system parameters, which were posted by user ‘Xilin’ on the Chinese platform Xchuxing, show that the model will also be available with a 60 kWh pack.
The smaller and cheaper 60 kWh battery will allow a lower purchase price for customers both when acquiring it with the vehicle and when renting it via Nio’s battery subscription program.
For Onvo’s debut model, the five-seat SUV L60, the price increases by 29,000 yuan ($4,040) when ordering the vehicle with the larger battery of 85kWh.
The L90 Pro and L90 Max have similar range and consumption rates. Equipped with a 60 kWh battery, the RWD iterations have a CLTC range of 425 to 450 km (265 to 280 miles).
With the 85 kWh pack, the vehicle will reach a range of 575 to 605 km (360 to 375 miles). Energy consumptions will go from 14.5 to 15.5 kWh/100 km (60 miles).
The Max AWD consumes from 15.5 to 15.9 kWh/100 km. With a 60 kWh battery, it can reach 410 to 425 km (255 to 265 miles). The 85 kWh pack is capable of a 550 to 570 km range (340 t0 355 miles).
According to Nio, the L90 is offered in a single-motor version, powered by a 340 kW motor, or as a dual-motor setup with 100 kW and 340 kW motors (a total 440 kW).
Matching the other Nio models, the L90 model reaches a top speed of 200 km/h.
Unveiled earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show, Onvo‘s L90 has a pre-sale price of 279,900 yuan ($39,000) when acquiring it with the battery and 193,900 yuan ($27,000) when choosing Nio’s battery-as-a-service (BaaS).
The six-seat version of the L90 (a five-seat variant is confirmed as well) delivers a CLTC range of up to 605 km. It measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and up to 1,786 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase.
At the pre-launch event, Onvo unveiled five exterior colors for its new SUV. However, images leaked online by Weibo user ‘电动兄弟’ on Monday show that the L90 will also be available in deep red or dark blue.
The model is set to be launched by the end of the month, with deliveries beginning in August. However, no specific date has been mentioned.
Competition in the six-seat SUV segment is heating up, with the reveal of Tesla’s Model YL last week — a new three-row variant of its top-selling model.
The new variant — named Model YL and using a longer wheelbase — was featured in the latest catalogue by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Several Chinese automakers have also launched or are preparing to launch six-seater models this year, highlighting a growing focus on the family-oriented vehicle market.
Besides the Onvo L90, Li Auto unveiled its Li i8 SUV. Pre-orders opened last week, with the brand setting an estimated price range between 350,000 and 400,000 yuan ($48,750 to $55,700), about 25% higher than Onvo‘s L90.
