Onvo has delivered 2,981 vehicles in February, extending the decline already seen in the first month of the year and reaching a new record low since the brand’s launch in September 2024.
Despite having added a second model to its lineup last August, Nio‘s family-oriented sub-brand recorded its two worst monthly delivery figures since it deliveries commenced in September 2024.
Compared to February 2025, when Onvo delivered 4,049 vehicles, last month’s figures represented a decrease of 26.4%.
China’s auto sector braced for a sluggish February as the Chinese New Year holiday weighed on production and sales, a pattern that traditionally makes the month one of the weakest performers of the year.
The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) flagged the period as “the year’s absolute trough,” pointing to this year’s nine-day holiday — the longest on record — which left the month with just 16 working days, three fewer than the same period last year.
Adding to the slowdown, automakers have concentrated most of their new model launches in the post-holiday period, a strategic choice the CPCA noted is fueling “short-term volatility in both orders and deliveries.”
This includes the Nio Group, which is scheduled to unveil two new models in April — the upcoming flagship SUV Nio ES9 and the five-seat Onvo L80.
In February, the group — which also includes the premium Nio brand and the most recently launched Firefly sub-brand — delivered a total of 20,797 vehicles.
Deliveries dropped 23.5% sequentially, considering January’s 27,182 units.
Compared to February 2025, global deliveries jumped by 57.6%.
As it aims to increase demand for its Onvo and Firefly sub-brands while reducing fixed costs at the same time, Nio has recently opened its first multi-brand store in China.
L90 Sales Decline
The L90, which recorded more than 30,000 deliveries during its first three months on the market, saw its figures plunge to the worst month on record in January.
As usual, the brand has not disclosed individual sales figures for either of its models, the L60 and the L90.
However, the total numbers suggest that the three-row SUV may have reached a new low last month.
China’s Passenger Car Association usually publishes a delivery breakdown by model in the second week of each month.
In January, Onvo delivered 1,981 units of the L60 — marking the first time since the L90’s launch that the debut model outsold its newer sibling.
The L60 SUV is currently priced from 149,900 yuan ($21,800) when purchased with Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS), with the price rising to 206,900 yuan ($30,200) if the battery is included.
The larger L90 — launched last Summer — is priced from 179,800 yuan ($26,200) with Nio’s BaaS and from 265,800 yuan ($38,800) if customers opt to buy the battery outright.
Upcoming L80
The upcoming Onvo L80, positioned between the two models, is scheduled for unveiling in mid-April.
According to regulatory filings published mid-last year, the model will be a five-seat iteration of the L90, with which it will share several components.
The model’s debut had previously been postponed as Nio prioritized ramping up production capacity for its larger SUVs toward the end of last year.
According to the company’s co-founder and President Qin Lihong, the brand will launch the model “around mid-May,” coinciding with the second anniversary of the brand, on May 15 (Global Family Day).
In the same user meet-up, the executive revealed the launch timeline of the upcoming ES9 — a large-sized SUV that will replace the ES8 as Nio‘s flagship model.
Battery Packs
Onvo completed the deployment of 8,000 battery packs across Nio’s battery swapping network during February.
It had previously missed the target on two separate occasions.
The availability of Onvo-compatible batteries at Nio‘s swap stations has been a persistent problem for customers who opted for purchase their vehicle’s through the Battery as a Service (BaaS) program.
These users rely on the network as their primary charging method.
Nio operates a network of 3,750 battery swap stations in China, having completed over 100 million swaps since it began offering the service.
