Onvo’s Factory Running at Full Capacity for L90 and L60 Models, Chief Says

Onvo, the family-oriented brand of Nio, is running both its L90 and L60 production lines at full capacity as demand for its new flagship model continues to grow.

The production update from Fei Shen, the sub-brand’s chief and a long-time Nio Group vice-president, comes days after several automotive bloggers claimed that the L90 was facing supply constraints — an information not confirmed by the brand.

“L90 production is running at full capacity, and just as busy is the L60 production line,” Shen wrote in a Weibo post on Tuesday that included factory photographs.

He added that the debut of the larger L90 had drawn more attention to the brand’s debut model, L60, boosting demand.

“Recently, L60 locked-in orders have shown strong momentum, and we are going full throttle to ensure deliveries,” Shen said.

As reported earlier this Tuesday, Onvo registered 3,790 vehicles in China last week, its second-highest weekly tally since deliveries began nearly a year ago, according to insurance registration data.

The figure was up 17% from 3,240 units in the previous week, driven by strong uptake of the new L90 SUV, which was unveiled on July 31 and entered deliveries the following day in more than 40 cities.

The L90, offered in six- and seven-seat configurations, accounted for 2,330 registrations last week, up from 2,090 a week earlier.

Customer wait times have extended to eight to ten weeks, compared with four to five weeks at launch, which Onvo has attributed to a “rapid surge in order volume” despite what it described as “relatively sufficient production preparations in advance.”

Onvo’s first model, the L60, recorded 1,460 registrations last week, up from 1,110 in the August 4–10 period.

The brand plans to expand its line-up later this year with the L80, a five-seat derivative of the L90, though it has not confirmed launch or delivery dates.

With the L60, L80 and L90, Onvo is targeting monthly deliveries of about 25,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter, or roughly 75,000 units for the period.

Later in the post, Fei Shen said he recently focused on the debut model’s safety performance in a livestream with Tsinghua students.

“Last week I did a livestream with several Tsinghua junior schoolmates responsible for Onvo technology, discussing the L60’s overall vehicle safety — also in the hope that more and more people can come to understand the strength of this hidden gem of a car,” he wrote.
