Onvo, the sub-brand of the EV maker Nio, is gearing up to release two SUVs later this year and the first one will be named L90, the brand’s chief Alan Ai confirmed in a livestream this Friday.

The L90 is expected to become Onvo’s flagship model, featuring a three-row layout aimed at bigger families. The SUV is expected to debut in the second quarter, with sales set to begin in the third quarter.

“Had such a great conversation with Charles today that I went ahead and announced the upcoming debut of the Onvo L90,” Alan Ai wrote on Weibo.

As reported in late January, a picture from an internal presentation shared on Weibo indicates that the brand has already completed trial production of the upcoming SUV.

In a newly shared image on Wednesday, the heavily camouflaged model is seen with a Firefly EV—Nio’s second sub-brand—closely following behind.

Here’s a video of the model charging at a Tesla Supercharger station in China.

The brand’s third model will follow in the final quarter of the year, Nio founder and CEO William Li revealed in late 2024. The three models are expected to be sold also in global markets such as the Middle East and North Africa region.

Sales Pressure

Onvo delivered 5,912 vehicles in January, well below its production capacity target of 16,000 units for the month. The company met its December target of 10,000 units and now aims to reach 20,000 in March.

Between February 10 and 16, the brand registered 900 units — data shared by the carmaker Li Auto showed on Tuesday. In December, and amid the traditional year-end sales push, the company was able to register 1,400, 1,700 and 2,100 vehicles in the first three weeks of the month scaling up to a new record of 4,200 units in the last week of the year.

Deliveries began last September, with the brand adding a new battery supplier in early December to tackle battery supply disruption, which limited deliveries in both October and November.
