Onvo to Launch Three-Row SUV L90 on July 31

Nio’s sub-brand Onvo will officially launch its three-row L90 SUV in China on July 31, with deliveries scheduled from the first day of August.

The L90 supports Nio’s 900 V high-voltage architecture and the company’s battery-swap system.

Besides the 85kWh battery shown at the pre-launch event earlier this month, images leaked earlier this Monday revealed that the standard-range battery of 60kWh will also be available.

The model, built on the automaker’s NT3.0 platform, opened for presale earlier this month at 279,900 yuan for outright purchase and 193,900 yuan for the battery-rental option.

The Beijing-based carmaker Li Auto unveiled its i8 SUV last week, a direct competitor to the six-seat variant of the L90. Its launch event is scheduled for July 29, two days before Onvo’s debut.

Pre-orders opened last week, with the brand setting an estimated price range between 350,000 and 400,000 yuan ($48,750 to $55,700), about 25% higher than Onvo‘s L90.

It will be offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with Pro, Max and Ultra trim levels, a leaked image showed this Monday.

The Pro and Max versions share a 60 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 425–450 km and energy consumption of 14.5–15.5 kWh/100 km.

Models equipped with the standard 85 kWh pack extend range to 575–605 km, while the Ultra’s 440 kW all-wheel-drive powertrain and air suspension enable 550–570 km of travel at 15.5–15.9 kWh/100 km.

The six-seat version of the L90 (a five-seat variant is confirmed as well) delivers a CLTC range of up to 605 km. It measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and up to 1,786 mm in height, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase.

A separate blogger published official images showing two additional exterior colours for the family-oriented sub-brand Onvo’s second model, arriving roughly a week before its official launch.

Nio founder and CEO William Li said over the weekend that L90 test-drive vehicles would reach dealerships nationwide this week.

Morgan Stanley analyst Tim Hsiao said in a research note last week that the Onvo L90 had already secured between 30,000 and 35,000 pre-orders within four days of the presale opening.

“We see Onvo L90 as a highly competitive model in the sub-Rmb300k segment given its superior interior space and specs—especially if the official price comes out lower than its pre-sale price,” he wrote.

On Sunday, Nio publicly denied allegations that its Onvo sub-brand orchestrated smear campaigns against rival carmakers.

In a statement on its legal-dedicated Weibo account, the company called the claims “defamatory” and said it would pursue legal action to protect its staff.

Nio shares rose 5.5% to $4.63 on Monday, lifting its market capitalisation above $10.4 billion.
