Onvo, the sub-brand of the EV maker Nio, has completed trial production of its second vehicle model, according to an image shared on the social media platform Weibo.

The family-oriented brand is set to launch two new SUV models this year after having started delivering its debut model, the L60, last September. The L80 is expected to be launched in the second half of this year in China with the timeline for arrival in global markets still unknown.

The picture is reportedly from an internal presentation and says “trial production of the second model has been completed with high quality.” It also adds that the model is “about to enter TT stage [Tooling Trial] soon after Gate 5.5.”

During a media briefing in Shanghai last month, the company’s founder and CEO, William Li, announced that deliveries of the new Onvo models will begin in the third and fourth quarters of the year.

Onvo’s registrations increased by 100 units last week but remained below the levels recorded at the beginning of 2025, when total registrations reached 2,300 units.

Nio’s sub-brand Onvo registered 1,900 units in China in the third week of the year, data shared by Li Auto showed on Tuesday.

In December, Onvo delivered 10,528 units fulfilling its promise of delivering over 10,000 units for the first time. The management aims now to double its monthly figures to 20,000 units in March.

Deliveries began last September, with the brand adding a new battery supplier in early December to tackle supply disruption that limited deliveries in both October and November.
