Vehicle deliveries of Nio’s sub-brand Onvo rebounded in March ahead of the launch of new L90 versions — the five-seat L80, which is based on the SUV, and a LiDAR-equipped version of the model.
The brand delivered 3,360 units of the three-row SUV L90 in March, a 155% sequential increase that followed the model’s two worst sales months since launch.
Cumulative deliveries of the three-row SUV have reached 49,527 units since sales began in August 2025, the company said in a Weibo post.
First-quarter deliveries of the L90 totaled 6,179 units, however — still well below the pace set during its first three months on the market.
By then, the model averaged over 10,000 monthly units.
That early momentum turned it into what Onvo described on Weibo as “the annual sales champion among large pure electric SUVs in 2025.”
The L60, Onvo‘s debut model, delivered 3,517 units in March — slightly ahead of the L90.
The figure represents a doubling from February but still marks a 27% decline year over year.
Cumulative deliveries of the L60 have now surpassed 90,000 units.
Onvo Brand
Nio‘s family-oriented sub-brand started 2026 by recording its two worst monthly delivery figures since its deliveries commenced in September 2024 — despite having added a second model to its lineup last August.
The brand’s deliveries recovered in March, more than doubling to 6,877 units.
The figures also represented a 42.7% increase from a year ago, when 4,820 L60 SUVs were registered.
February volumes were dragged down by the Chinese New Year holiday, which was the longest on record this year according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
January sales, meanwhile, were hit by the reduction in China’s purchase tax exemption for new energy vehicles — which took effect on January 1.
Nio‘s founder and CEO William Li had warned in November that Onvo would bear the brunt of the policy shift.
“Our Onvo L60 and L90 are majorly affected by this cancellation as they are in a relatively low price segment and are more sensitive to such changes,” he said then.
Nio recently opened its first multi-brand store, as it aims to lower fixed costs and to increase demand for both Onvo and Firefly sub-brands.
Additionally, the company has expanded its subscription-based vehicle offer across all three of its brands through a broadened partnership with Alipay — introducing both Onvo vehicles on the platform.
Incentives
Facing declining sales, Onvo has rolled out aggressive incentives in recent months to shore up demand.
In March, the brand launched a promotional campaign offering full purchase tax subsidies and seven-year financing at a 0.49% annualized rate.
Buyers who opted for Nio‘s Battery as a Service (BaaS) program received full purchase tax coverage, with subsidies of up to 8,156 yuan for the L60 and up to 10,262 yuan for the L90.
Down payments started from 29,900 yuan ($4,350) for the L60 and 35,900 yuan ($5,220) for the L90.
The campaign has been extended into April.
Onvo is now offering seven-year ultra-low interest financing across its entire lineup — after Tesla started it across China in the past quarter.
Down payments start from 29,900 yuan ($4,400) and the monthly interest is as low as 49 yuan.
The offer retains full purchase tax coverage and subsidies of up to 10,262 yuan ($1,500) for all models.
A limited number of select vehicles are also available at stores nationwide with additional exclusive discounts.
LiDAR Version
With the beginning of the second quarter, the timeline for the launch of the upcoming LiDAR-equipped L90 approaches.
The model was first confirmed in a regulatory filing, which showed a sensor unit incorporated at the front center of the roof — similar to Nio vehicles.
The integration of LiDAR marks a reversal of the pure-vision approach Onvo had promoted since launch. The Nio Group had only included the sensors in its premium vehicles.
Onvo‘s brand chief Fei Shen confirmed the LiDAR variant will be priced higher than current versions.
An uncamouflaged LiDAR-equipped version of the L90 SUV was spotted undergoing road tests for the first time last weekend.
Contrary to what the brand chief previously said, Onvo might also be releasing a LiDAR version for the debut L60 — as the model was recently featured in a catalogue from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Upcoming Lineup
The L80 — a five-seat version of the L90 SUV — is also on track to be unveiled this month.
Co-founder and President Qin Lihong outlined the updated timeline, stating that “sometime around April 20th, there will be a comprehensive product and technology launch event.”
The event will coincide with the Beijing Auto Show running from April 24 to May 3.
Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-May, around the anniversary of the brand’s launch, celebrated on May 15 (World Family Day).
At an offline event, Onvo‘s brand chief Shen Fei also revealed that the L80 will be available in both pure-vision and LiDAR versions.
Late last month, Chinese media outlet LatePost reported that Onvo has resumed development of two new models in the 200,000-yuan price segment.
Sources close to the project told Chinese media outlet LatePost that the brand is developing a sedan and an SUV.
