Onvo Sales Improve Slightly for Second Week, Fall Short of March Figures

While Nio Group’s main brand set a new weekly sales record for the second consecutive week, its first sub-brand, Onvo, continued to underperform, recording 770 units sold between April 14 and 20.

Although this marks a second straight week of modest growth — nearly 5% — weekly sales remain below March levels, when the family-oriented brand consistently sold over 1,000 units each week.

The premium Nio brand sold 5,400 vehicles last week — a 54.3% jump from the second week of April and the best weekly result of 2o25.

According to the latest weekly registration data published early Tuesday on Chinese social media, Onvo recorded 700, 735, and 770 units sold in the three weeks between March 31 and April 20. As of last Sunday, the brand’s cumulative sales for April stood at 2,205 units.

Earlier this month, the company introduced a fresh round of incentives to boost sales of its debut model following slower-than-expected demand in the first quarter of the year as recently admitted by Nio Group founder and CEO William Li.

In the first days of April, Onvo’s chief Alan Ai stepped down and the brand’s number two Xia Qinghua transitioned to a new role within the Nio Group — as exclusively reported by EV.

On Wednesday (April 23), Onvo will officially launch its second model — a three-row SUV. The first images of the vehicle appeared last week in China’s regulatory catalogue, followed shortly after by exterior photos shared by Nio’s sub-brand on Chinese social media.

Static reviews of the 5,145mm-long SUV began circulating on Monday from China-based content creators, though the interior has not yet been revealed. The cabin is expected to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. The model is aimed squarely at Li Auto’s SUV lineup.

According to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Onvo L90 will be a six-seater SUV. The rear-wheel-drive version is powered by a 340 kW rear motor, while the all-wheel-drive variant adds a 100 kW front motor.

Onvo deliveries reached nearly 6,000 in January4,049 in February and 4,820 in March — well below the target of 16,000 units in January and 20,000 in March communicated late last year.
