Onvo L90 Waiting Times Stretch to 8–10 Weeks in Second Increase Since Launch

Waiting times for the new SUV of Nio’s sub-brand Onvo have risen again, according to the brand’s online configurator.

As of Friday, the estimated delivery window for all three trims of the six-seat configuration has been updated to “8–10 weeks,” up from “5–7 weeks” on Thursday and “4–6 weeks” at launch on July 31.

Customers placing orders today are expected to receive their vehicles between October 3 and October 17.

The seven-seat version remains at “8–10 weeks,” with deliveries for that configuration scheduled to begin in late September.

The second increase in just over a week is likely linked to continued new orders and demand, rather than production constraints.

Earlier this week, Onvo head Fei Shen wrote on Weibo that deliveries were “accelerating at full speed.”

“A video that excites me so much… assembly lines running day and night, long convoys of trucks heading in all directions, deliveries accelerating at full speed!,” the executive wrote.

“Lock in your L90 now, chase the summer breeze, enjoy the National Day scenery, and let Onvo be the first stop on your journey!,” he added.

The increase comes amid expectations for a strong August, after Onvo delivered 5,976 vehicles in July, down 6.6% from the previous month.

Nio’s Xiaohongshu account in Jinan disclosed last weekend that more than 20,000 L90 units had been prepared for the first round of confirmed orders — the first time the company has given an approximate figure for initial availability.

Chinese media outlet Yiou reported last week that Fei Shen told his team the L90 must deliver more than 10,000 units in August, its first full month on the market.

Just before the launch event, Nio founder and chief executive William Li said surpassing Xiaomi’s first-month delivery record of just under 7,100 units seemed “achievable.” Earlier this week, he added that the L90 ranked among the top three best-selling large SUVs in China last week despite being on sale for only three days, and that Nio’s Hefei plant is “running at full capacity with overtime shifts” to support deliveries.

The launch offer, valid until August 31, includes five years of free Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) valued at 19,200 yuan ($2,670), a set of pearl cotton cloud-feel cushions worth 1,028 yuan ($140), and 3,000 vehicle delivery points.

Buyers can also receive a 60% discount on optional features such as exterior colours, 21-inch wheels and electric running boards, with total savings of up to 11,200 yuan ($1,560).

William Li has previously set a target for Onvo to deliver “about 25,000” vehicles each month in the fourth quarter, for a total of 75,000 units in the October–December period.

Nio shares rose 1.5% to close at $4.68 on Thursday. The stock is up 26.8% over the past month, 18.2% over three months, 7.3% year-to-date, and 22.5% over the past year.
