EV maker Nio is on track to post its third consecutive monthly delivery record when it reports October figures on November 1.
The Group — which includes Nio, Onvo and Firefly brands — delivered 31,305 EVs in August, 34,749 in September and targets a monthly average of 50,000 units in the final three months of 2025.
As reported in late September, the company quietly began production at its third factory in Hefei, China, although Nio has not officially announced the start of operations.
In a letter dated September 29 and made public last week, the company said it needs to fill “about 1,000” vacancies before the end of October as orders for its latest models are “booming.”
The company’s third factory is located in Changfeng County, Hefei, and spans about 1,600 acres, equivalent to nearly 6.5 square kilometers.
New orders for Nio’s three-row ES8 SUV face a delivery wait of about six months, while its Onvo L60 and L90 models have waiting times that can exceed two months, according to the latest update from late last week.
Over the weekend, Onvo stopped displaying delivery waiting times for both of its models, with estimates now available only through delivery advisors.
Management said in early September it aims to deliver 150,000 EVs across its three brands in the fourth quarter of the year.
In June, Nio’s management said the core Nio brand would target about 25,000 deliveries per month in the fourth quarter, or 75,000 units, while Li separately stated that Onvo would aim for the same output.
According to weekly figures shared by CarFans platform founder Sun Shaojun on Tuesday, the Group delivered more than 10,600 EVs across its three brands between October 13 and 19.
The figures mark the second-highest weekly total in the company’s history.
The Shanghai-headquartered group’s record of insurance registrations in a single week was reached in late September with 10,800 units.
Sun said Nio delivered more than 10,600 vehicles last week, including over 4,000 Nio-branded models, more than 5,000 Onvo vehicles, and over 1,500 Firefly cars.
He added that “weekly deliveries of the L90 surpassed 3,500 units, with production capacity up 50% from last month, and the ES8 has officially begun ramping up.”
The third-generation ES8 was launched in late September at the company’s annual event in Hangzhou.
“With its two flagship SUVs driving sales, Nio’s total weekly deliveries have exceeded 10,000 units, while Firefly models remain in high demand — it’s really not easy,” Sun said.
Last Friday, the company held an internal meeting with mid- to senior-level managers where founder and CEO William Li reiterated the goal of achieving profitability in the current quarter.
Li told managers to focus on three priorities: boosting sales of key models such as the third-generation ES8 and Onvo L90, strengthening supply-chain stability and cost reductions, and ensuring timely, high-quality software updates.
Last week, the brand launched a new limited edition of its ET5 Touring model capped at 555 units. The station wagon remains the best-selling vehicle in the Nio lineup, after surpassing the entry-level ES6 SUV.
