Nio’s Senior Director for Automated Driving in Europe, Mirko Reuter, has announced his departure from the company on his LinkedIn profile on Saturday.
In mid-June, two of Nio’s country managers for Germany and the UK left the company to join Geely’s fully electric brand, Polestar.
Reuter, who joined the electric vehicle maker in May 2022, was leading the team at Nio’s Smart Driving Technology Center, which opened last April in Berlin, Germany. The center focuses on developing and validating vehicle-specific systems tailored to the local needs of Nio’s European customers.
Reuter’s career spans nearly 15 years at Audi, where he led the Automated Driving team from 2017 to 2018. Prior to Audi, he worked at Ford for three years before joining the German premium brand in late 2003 as a Development Engineer.

After leaving the German aviation firm Lilium two years ago, Reuter is now returning to the space industry. He will join Airbus Defence and Space as a Senior Vice-President and Head of Engineering Connected Intelligence.
According to Nio, the recently opened Smart Driving Technology Center works closely with the Innovation Center, which opened in 2023. Both teams collaborate to develop intelligent and digital technologies specifically designed for the five European markets Nio is operating.
On Friday, the company announced that its Chief Financial Officer Steven Wei Feng has resigned after five years in the company due to “personal and family reasons”.
As the resignation has immediate effect, Nio‘s board has promoted its Senior Vice President of Finance, Stanley Yu Qu, to become the new Chief Financial Officer.
