JAP Group, the Portuguese distributor of several Chinese carmakers in the Southern European market, has opened the first Nio showroom in the country.
The new showroom is located in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, and showcases two of the three brands of the Shanghai-headquartered Group: Nio and Firefly.
The retail space is located next to several other showrooms from GAC’s brand Aion, Omoda, and Jaecoo — which are also represented by JAP in the Portuguese market.
The dealership represents the initial phase of the nationwide presence that the retail network will have.
“More than just the opening of new spaces, this marks the start of an ambitious project that will soon have coverage from North to South of the country,” the marketing manager for Carby Ruben Oliveira wrote.
Carby was created in 2023 through the combination of ‘Grupo JAP’ and ‘Entreposto’, representing 23 automotive brands in total. ‘Grupo JAP’, Nio’s Portuguese distributor, acquired ‘Entreposto’ in 2020.
“I am convinced that these brands will conquer a very expressive place in the Portuguese market,” Oliveira added.
Product Lineup
The showroom displays vehicles from multiple Chinese manufacturers: a Firefly hatchback EV and Nio ET5 sedan from the premium brand, the Aion V small SUV from Guangzhou-based state-owned GAC Group, and Jaecoo’s 5 and 7 SUV models.
All four brands represented at the dealership announced expansion to the Portuguese market earlier this year.
‘Grupo JAP’ and Nio hosted a media launch event in Lisbon last month, introducing both the Nio and Firefly brands to the Portuguese market.
Onvo, the third brand in Nio’s portfolio that launched in China in May 2024, has not yet been announced for any European market.
Portuguese Pricing
Nio revealed pricing for its models at the launch event. The ET5 sedan starts at €59,900 ($69,500) for the standard-range version and €69,900 ($81,100) for the long-range variant.
The station wagon ET5 Touring is priced from €62,500 for the standard range and €72,500 for the long-range model.
The five-seat SUV Nio EL6 starts at €66,900 for the standard range and €76,900 for the long-range version.
The Firefly hatchback city car is priced at €29,900 ($34,700) for the Select trim and €31,490 for the Comfort trim through year-end.
Starting January 1, the entry-level variant will begin at €30,900 ($35,800) while the higher trim will start at €32,490. All prices include value-added tax.
Expansion Plans
A second showroom is planned to open in Porto in the second half of December, located west of the city center near BYD’s showroom.
Final preparations on the Porto location will take place in mid-December.
Nio said earlier this week it will launch its Firefly sub-brand in Singapore in January 2026, marking the brand’s entry into its first right-hand-drive market alongside Hong Kong.
