Nio’s brand Onvo Rolls Out New Software Update in China

Nio‘s sub-brand Onvo has begun rolling out its NT.Coconut 1.2.0 system update to L60 model owners, improving advanced driver-assistance functions and expanding third-party app integration.

The update, initially planned for March, was postponed following new regulations from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which require public disclosure before significant software changes are approved.

New functions include an end-to-end AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) function, more information in the heads-up display, upgrades to the in-car voice assistant ‘Xiaole,’ integration of China’s AliPay system, among others.

The update is currently rolling out via over the air.

A karaoke mode with AI vocal enhancement, upgraded ambient lighting controls, real-time PM2.5 air quality status, rear-seat navigation visibility, and support for gaming device screen casting are now available.

Additional improvements were made to charging efficiency, seat position memory, Bluetooth disconnection logic, and navigation interface design. The system also adds app-specific media source displays, and enhanced rearview camera settings.

The L60 is Onvo’s first model and was unveiled a year ago. Deliveries in China began in September and the company has delivered an average of about 6,000 units per month.

The brand saw its weekly sales in China drop slightly to 1,580 units between May 12 and 18, according to the latest insurance registration data.

Despite a 4.8% drop from the second week of May, registrations of the brand’s debut model L60 remained among the strongest recorded since early this year.

Between April 28 and May 18, the family-oriented brand has registered 4,540 vehicles.

Onvo’s chief Alan Ai left the company in early April following weaker-than-expected sales in the first months of the year.

In April, Onvo delivered 4,400 L60 SUVs in China marking a 9% drop from the 4,820 units recorded by the brand.

Nio Group’s total registrations reached 6,600 vehicles last week, up from the 6,060 registered between May 5 and May 11. Figures include 4,200 Nio brand EVs, 1,580 Onvo and 800 Firefly units.
