Nio released its monthly smart driving recap on Saturday, revealing that the proportion of miles driven using its ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology — called Navigation on Pilot Plus (NOP+) — surpassed 75% in November. As of the end of November, the cumulative mileage of NOP+ reached 1.48 billion kilometers in China, equivalent to 920 million miles.
In November, 15,493 drivers started using the company’s technology, bringing its total user base to 630,193, the company said on the official app. Following the recently announced year-end incentives, all newly purchased models now come equipped with the NOP+.
Nio introduced the technology as a beta feature in July 2023, an upgrade from the original Navigate on Pilot (NOP) software. As part of the recently announced year end incentives, the NOP+ software come as standard in every purchased model in December.
Mileage of the NOP+ surpassed 80 million kilometers (49.7 million miles) in November, accounting for over 76.6%. Over the last four months, the mileage has been over 75%.
In April, Nio founder and CEO William Li stated that by 2025, the company aims for owners to use NOP+ during 80% of their total driving time.
Intelligent Parking, one of the features of the NOP+, was used by drivers 5.07 million times, freeing up an estimated 45,000 hours of driver effort. Meanwhile, Nio’s “Power Swap Pilot” feature, which was launched earlier this year in China and guides drivers to its network of automated battery swap stations, was used a total of 45,000 times, including 5,841 last month.
The company’s safety systems, which include automatic emergency braking and mis-acceleration inhibition, were triggered 192,000 times and 639 times last month respectively.
Nio announced Thursday it signed a partnership with Mastercard in Shanghai to collaborate on user services, payment solutions, and global business expansion. The partnership includes plans to offer Mastercard cardholders access to Nio’s battery-swapping technology, maintenance, car rental, and travel services.
