Shanghai-based Nio Group saw registrations decline to 4,100 units between July 7 and 13 in its domestic market, with its main brand representing 2,410 of those.
Premium brand Nio reached a new three-month low in weekly sales, despite having launched updated versions of four of its key models in May.
Nio launched the updated ES6 and EC6 SUVs in mid-May and immediately started deliveries of the models.
Later that month, the brand also revealed the upgraded iterations of the ET5 and ET5T, keeping prices unchanged from previous versions.
The two sedans are priced from 298,000 yuan ($41,600), if including the 75 kWh range battery pack, and 228,000 yuan ($31,800) if the customer chooses to lease the battery separarely.
From July 7 to 13, the ET5/ET5T segment represented more than half of the total units sold, with 1,420 units — the same amount sold a week before.
The model breakdown data was reported by X user ‘CarfansC’, an account which tracks closely registration and sales data of the Chinese car market.
However, the data of the four best selling models surpasses the total of 2,410 units reported by multiple Chinese media outlets.
The ES6/EC6 entry-level SUVs had a slightly better sales week, with 1,130 units, an increase of 13% when compared to the 1,000 it accounted for in the first week of July.
Nio‘s lineup in China includes its flagship ET9 model, the ET7 sedan, and the EC7 and ES8 SUVs.
However, the registration data released on Tuesday did not specify which models accounted for the remaining 170 vehicles sold by Nio.
The new ES8 will be unveiled at the brand’s upcoming annual event — which is being anticipated this year from the year end to the fall.
According to a new filing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the revamped ES8 will use a 102 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated range of 635 km — approximately 30 km more than the current version.
The Shanghai-based EV maker commenced deliveries of its flagship ET9 sedan in China on March 29, its most advanced and highest-priced model to date.
It is priced from 660,000 yuan ($92,000) with Nio’s BaaS (battery as a service) and from 788,000 yuan ($109,800) with the battery included — more than twice the starting price of the ES6 SUV, which begins at 338,000 yuan ($47,100).
A recent filing by China’s MIIT revealed that the new ES8, which will be officially unveiled later this year at Nio Day 2025, will be equipped with a 102 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated range of 635 km.
Last week, Nio’s sub-brand Onvo recorded its lowest weekly sales figures since April, with 1,140 vehicles.
The family focused brand unveiled its second model, the L90 SUV, last Thursday. According to Morgan Stanley, the brand secured 30,000-35,000 pre-orders of the model in the first four days.
Firefly registrations dropped by more than half week over week, from 1,300 to 550 units. The brand is preparing to enter Europe, with first deliveries expected later in the year.
