Weekly sales of Nio vehicles in China rose more than 11% to 3,900 units in the week of May 5–11, driven by stronger demand for its entry-level SUVs, the ES6 and EC6.
Nio sold 1,630 units of the ES6, up from 1,230 in the previous week. Sales of the coupe-style EC6 also increased to 530 units, from 410 a week earlier.
Both models are scheduled to receive mid-cycle updates, with refreshed versions to be unveiled on May 16. Showroom units have already been delivered and pre-orders opened earlier this week.
The ET5, Nio’s cheapest model, and its station wagon variant, the ET5 Touring, are also receiving a facelift. The updated versions will launch on May 25 and are expected to arrive in Nio stores across China in the coming days.
While exterior changes are minor, the 2025 models include major interior upgrades, such as horizontal screens and Nio’s proprietary autonomous driving chip, replacing the Nvidia chip currently in use.
ET5 sales declined slightly to 350 units last week, down from 360 in the previous period.
For the ET9, Nio’s flagship sedan which began deliveries on March 28, the company recorded 150 registrations — a second consecutive weekly decline. That compares with 250 units sold in the week of April 21–27 and 190 in the following week.
According to figures from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 810 ET9 units were delivered in April, the model’s first full month of availability.
Combined sales of the ES8, ET7, EC7, and ES7 — grouped under the “Others” category — dropped to 180 units, down from 280 the previous week and 350 the week before that.
Nio plans to launch a refreshed version of its three-row ES8 SUV in the final quarter of 2025, according to founder and CEO William Li.
In Europe, Nio sold 52 vehicles across five markets in April, down from 86 in March, according to national registration data and the EU-EVs platform.

Sales included 29 units in Norway, 19 in Germany, and two each in the Netherlands and Sweden. No vehicles were registered in Denmark.
Globally, Nio delivered 19,269 vehicles in April, up from 10,219 in March and 15,620 in April 2024.
Onvo, Nio’s first sub-brand, delivered 4,400 units of its debut model last month, while Firefly — a second sub-brand — registered 231 units in the final days of April.
