Nio Unveils 2026 Versions of Four Entry-Level Models, Prices Unchanged

Premium EV maker Nio unveiled on Thursday the 2026 model year versions of its ‘5566’ series — the entry-level models of the brand’s portfolio.

These include the ET5 sedan, the station wagon variant ET5 Touring, the ES6 SUV, and the coupe SUV EC6.

As with the 2025 model year announced about eleven months ago, prices have again remained unchanged.

The 2026 ES6 starts at 338,000 yuan ($49,200) including the battery and at 230,000 yuan ($33,500) under Nio‘s Battery as a Service (BaaS) option, which allows owners to lease the battery separately.

The EC6 is priced from 358,000 yuan ($52,100) and 250,000 yuan ($36,400), respectively.

The ET5 sedan and ET5T station wagon share the same entry point, at 298,000 yuan ($43,400) or 190,000 yuan ($27,600) under BaaS.

All four models now come standard with new assisted driving indicator lights, a feature aimed at enhancing road safety.

The ES6 and EC6 also add a zero-gravity seat for the driver, designed to improve comfort during long-distance driving.

Nio is also offering ‘Nature Wonderland Editions’ of the ES6 and EC6, priced at a 12,000-yuan premium over the standard models — 350,000 yuan ($50,900) and 370,000 yuan ($53,800) respectively.

The prices lower to 242,000 yuan ($35,200) and 262,000 yuan ($38,100) under BaaS.

Inspired by the Nio-initiated Clean Parks initiative, the special editions feature exclusive exterior kits and interior design elements.

More details on the facelifts are expected to be provided in a launch event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Beijing time.

Purchase Incentives

All four models share the same core promotional package for orders locked in through 30 April 2026.

These include a complimentary HD streaming media interior rearview mirror valued at 3,800 yuan ($550), ultra-low-interest financing over seven years at an APR as low as 0.49% and five years of free NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot+) access.

Additionally, Nio offers a buy-one-get-one-free first-year battery lease for 100 kWh pack configurations. The offer does not apply to 75 kWh battery lease vehicles.

ET5 and ET5T buyers get 50% off optional accessories, as a counterpoint to the zero-gravity seat offered with the new ES6 and EC6 models.

Returning Nio owners qualify for repurchase loyalty points — 50,000 for Founder Edition owners, 30,000 for non-Founder Edition owners, and 10,000 for Onvo or Firefly owners. The tiers cannot be stacked.

On Wednesday, Nio also renewed incentives for the ES8 SUV — key to its success.

Through 30 April, buyers who lock in orders for the refreshed ES8 can claim a 10,000 yuan ($1,500) purchase tax subsidy, five years of free NOP+ access, and a complimentary first-class airline-style seat package.

Nio is also introducing a new 84-month low-interest financing plan for the ES8 with a minimum down payment of 20%, no early repayment penalties, and no processing fees.

Delivery Figures

The Nio Group delivered 83,465 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, exceeding its official guidance by nearly 500 units.

Of those, 35,486 were delivered in March.

The Nio brand accounted for 58,543 vehicles in the quarter, or 63.4% of the Group’s total. In March, the brand delivered 22,490 units.

The ES8 drove the bulk of Nio’s performance, with 45,160 units in the first quarter and accounting for 77.1% of all Nio-brand deliveries.

The ES8 represented 16,255 of the total vehicles registered in March.

The company has not disclosed model-level figures for the rest of the lineup.

China’s Passenger Car Association (CPCA) typically releases the breakdown per model later in the month.

Based on the ES8 total, the remaining models accounted for 6,235 units in March and 13,383 in the quarter.

Considering the previous months’ results and the residual share of other models in Nio‘s deliveries, the ‘5566’ series is likely to have represented most of those registrations.

European Market

The four models are currently offered in Nio‘s European markets — where the lineup consists entirely of 2023 and 2024 model-year stock built on the NT 2.0 platform.

Nio has been running clearance promotions on the ET5, ET5 Touring, and EL6 (the European name for the ES6), including discounted battery subscriptions and financing incentives.

A source familiar with the company told EV that the majority of registrations during Nio‘s initial European rollout were first-time fleet entries for subscription vehicles — meaning much of the apparent volume in 2022 and 2023 reflected fleet building rather than discrete customer sales.

At the same time, it indicates that no new inventory has been entering European markets in the past few years, while Nio is actively working to clear aging models.

Whether the 2026 model-year versions will be exported to Europe remains unknown.

The company faces a 30.7% combined tariff on vehicles imported into the EU and is in the process of transitioning its European sales operations from a direct model to a distributor-based approach, as EV exclusively reported on March 5.

As of press time, Nio had not confirmed plans to refresh its regional lineup with third-generation platform vehicles.

Upcoming Models

The ‘5566’ series facelift arrives just two days into the second quarter, accelerating a timeline that management had outlined during last month’s earnings call.

By then, Chief Executive Officer William Li said the 2026 model-year updates would come in the second quarter as part of efforts towards “strengthening the product lineup.”

The four models that once formed the backbone of Nio‘s sales before the third-generation ES8 took over.

Nio is preparing to unveil its ES9 on April 9. The larger model will replace the ES8 as the company’s flagship SUV.

Additionally, co-founder and President Qin Lihong revealed over the weekend that a five-seat version of the ES8 will also launch in early July.

It marked the first time Nio has mentioned a five-seat variant of the ES8.

The announcement came weeks after a new version of what appeared to be the ES7 was spotted being transported in China.

Lihong said then the model would debut in the third quarter, but his framing of it as a five-seat ES8 — rather than an updated ES7 — may suggest the ES7 nameplate has been shelved, following weak sales and its eventual discontinuation in China last year.
