Electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio plans to open a new sales and service center, known as a Nio Hub, Germany, on November 28. The facility will be located at Weiterstadt, approximately 30 km (19 miles) from Frankfurt and near the A5 highway, one of the busiest ones in the country.

This will be Nio’s third Hub in Germany, following similar openings in Munich in June 2023 and Cologne earlier this year. After creating Nio Delivery Center, House and Space, the Shanghai-headquartered brand defined last year a new concept where it combines a Showroom, a Service Center and a Delivery Center.

Typically, these centers are strategically located near major highways and outside city centers.

It joins Nio’s existing presence in the German state of Hesse, which includes a flagship showroom — Nio House — in Frankfurt and three battery swap stations. In total, the EV maker has 19 stations across Germany with another two in preparation for construction.

Nio registered 15 vehicles in Germany in October, its lowest monthly total since February 2023, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Registrations fell 95% year-on-year, or by 274 units, and were down 31.8% from September.

The automaker has recently added its ET5 sedan to the models available for taxi fleets in Germany, which also include the ET7 sedan. Cities such as Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, and Hamburg now offer leasing options for these models.

As part of its entry into the taxi sector, Nio announced in July a partnership with the ride-hailing platform Freenow, offering specific pricing conditions for operators integrating Nio vehicles into their fleets.
