Nio announced Friday that production capacity for its newly launched ES8 SUV will increase by 70% in November, as the company works to meet surging demand for the three-row electric vehicle.
The announcement came in a Weibo post by Ma Lin, Nio‘s Assistant Vice President of Brand and Communications, in response to news that the model reached 10,000 deliveries in just 41 days.
“In November, deliveries of the all-new ES8 will accelerate further, with production capacity expected to increase by 70% compared with October,” Ma wrote.
The executive added that Nio “will strive to further boost production” in December, reiterating the company’s target of producing 15,000 ES8s in the final month of 2025.
Ambitious Q4 Targets
CEO William Li confirmed the expansion plans last week as Nio targets 150,000 total deliveries across its three brands—Nio, Onvo, and Firefly—in the fourth quarter.
The target suggests the company expects to reach an average of 50,000 deliveries per month in October, November, and December combined across all brands.
Strong Demand Creates Extended Wait Times
The third-generation ES8 debuted at Nio‘s annual event in China on September 20, with deliveries beginning the following day.
Demand quickly outpaced supply.
By September 22, the company announced a six-month waiting period for new orders.
While that timeline has since narrowed to 22-23 weeks as production ramps up, customers ordering today would still face delivery in April 2026.
To meet demand, Nio has reportedly begun production at its third factory in Hefei and requested provincial government support to hire approximately 1,000 additional workers by the end of October.
The company is prioritizing production of both its three-row SUVs—the ES8 and the Onvo L90—through year-end.
ES8 Delivery Performance
According to data from China’s Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the ES8 accounted for 2,803 of the 34,749 total units delivered by Nio brand in September.
The figures indicate that over 7,000 units of the model were delivered in October alone, as EV previously reported.
Record Streak Continues
Nio Group achieved consecutive monthly delivery records in recent months, with September’s vehicle deliveries of 34,749 units surpassing August’s previous record of 31,305 units.
With monthly delivery figures expected to be reported on Saturday (November 1), the company is on track to reach its third consecutive month of record deliveries.
The sustained growth comes as Nio pushes toward its first-ever profitable quarter in Q4 2025, a milestone that would mark a turning point for the Shanghai-based EV maker.
