Nio’s third manufacturing facility, internally referred to as F3, is set to begin production in the third quarter of next year, the company’s founder and CEO William Li announced on Wednesday. The plant is located in Huainan, Hefei, where Nio’s two existing factories are also situated.
In June, Reuters reported, citing internal sources, that Nio had received approval for a third factory with an annual capacity of 600,000 units once fully built. However, Nio later clarified that the facility’s capacity would be 100,000 units based on a single shift.
In the same report, Reuters said that Nio’s total production capacity is expected to reach 1 million vehicles annually.
“The capacity of our existing plants won’t be enough to meet market demand. There is no overcapacity with Nio,” the company said in a June statement to the news agency.
At the media event held in Shanghai, Li also reaffirmed Nio’s target of delivering 440,000 vehicles in 2025, doubling its projected output for this year. While acknowledging the goal as “challenging,” he characterized it as “reasonable.”

Commenting on the October and November delivery figures, William Li explained that the decline was not driven by the Onvo sub-brand but rather by “a significant rollback of promotions.”
Regarding the ET9 sedan, which will start deliveries in China during the first quarter of the year, the chief executive said that it will have 17 global debut features and more than 50 global leading features, as initially reported by the industry expert Lei Xing on X.
