Electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio, which expanded to the German market in October 2022, has registered 32 vehicles in July. In June, the Shanghai-headquartered brand had registered 44 units.
July was the first complete month under the leadership of David Sultzer, the new country manager of replaced Marius Hayler in mid-June. Hayler, who was hired to in 2021 establish and lead the Nio’s first European market Norway, left in June to join Polestar.
In October 2023, Hayler replaced Ralph Kranz, Germany’s first country manager that joined Nio from Volvo in 2022.

Nio has recently launched its flagship SUV EL8 in the five European countries opening pre-orders while deliveries are expected to start in September.
The model, which arrives now Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, was initially launched in China in late 2022. The EL8 is priced in Germany at €108,900 with battery included and at €87,900 with the Battery as a Service system.

When buying the EL8 with the battery subscription service (BaaS), which allow users to swap the battery of the car in a few minutes, prices start at €82,900.
In July 2024, registrations of pure electric vehicles in Germany stood at 30,762 units, 36.8 percent lower than in June. A total of 79,870 new hybrid vehicles were registered including 14,811 plug-in hybrids.

In a reaction to the extra tariffs announced by the European Commission, Nio has hinted earlier today that an adjustment on the prices “cannot be ruled out”. However, the company says that is maintaining its prices “at this stage”.
