Nio is finalizing construction of its first showroom in Singapore, with images circulating on social media Tuesday showing the store nearly ready to open as the Chinese EV maker prepares to launch in the city-state next month.
A photo shared on X by the user ‘Nioadmirer’ showed the Nio storefront with illuminated brand signage already installed on the facade, though no vehicles were visible inside.
The store is located at 45 Leng Kee Road, situated between Lotus and Harley-Davidson dealerships at the Wearnes Automotive center and is planned to feature vehicles from both Nio and Firefly brands.
Wearnes Automotive, Nio‘s local distribution partner, operates dealerships for several premium and luxury brands at the location including Lotus, Volvo, Land Rover, Bentley, Ducati, Polestar, and Aston Martin.
Private Preview Underway
The Shanghai-based automaker is currently hosting a private preview event for the Firefly sub-brand at the location through January 4, 2026, according to an email from Wearnes Automotive seen by EV.
“Coming to Singapore. January 2026,” Nio wrote in a promotional image shared on a LinkedIn account dedicated to the Singaporean market earlier this month.
A timeline for first deliveries and pricing details have not been announced. The company launched a Singapore website last month.
First Right-Hand-Drive Market
Singapore will be among the first right-hand-drive markets to receive the Firefly debut EV, after Nio said in mid-November that it had begun producing right-hand-drive models for export to the country.
Hong Kong and Macau are also set to launch the brand, with the UK, Thailand, and Australia planned for later in 2026.
Battery Swap Network
Firefly chief Daniel Jin said last month at a media roundtable in Shenzhen that the company is negotiating with its Hong Kong distributor to build three to five battery swap stations to cover the entire territory.
Jin encouraged the Singapore distributor to deploy a similar number of stations across the city-state.
The brand’s debut model will be able to use Nio‘s upcoming fifth-generation battery swap stations, which will be announced and launched first in China in the first quarter of 2026.
Boutique Positioning
Firefly will be marketed as a boutique small car in Singapore, avoiding price wars with Chinese domestic rivals such as BYD in overseas markets, Jin said in November.
The executive declined to provide sales targets but warned the pace would likely be slow as the brand builds consumer trust.
The Nio and Firefly brands will join several other Chinese automakers currently available in the country, including Chery, Changan‘s Deepal, Dongfeng, Guangzhou-based GAC and XPeng, the Geely brand Zeekr, among others.
