After announcing earlier this year partnerships with taxi firms in Norway, Sweden, and Germany, electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio is now bringing its flagship sedan ET7 to the streets of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
The company said Saturday it has partnered with Blueplates, an online platform for taxi drivers, allowing taxi drivers and chauffeurs to rent the Nio ET7 becoming able to access the brand’s battery-swapping technology across the country.Â

“Through Blueplates, the online platform by and for taxi drivers, chauffeurs can rent a taxi, use it themselves, and make it available to drivers who do not own a car,” Nio stated on LinkedIn.
In Norway, where all taxis must be emission-free by November 1, 2024, Nio’s battery-swapping technology is already supporting taxi companies as they transition to zero-emission fleets.Â

Nio has also established a partnership with Freenow in Germany, offering taxi operators in major cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich the option to adopt the Nio ET7 or ET5. T
The partnership includes exclusive benefits for taxi operators, further encouraging the adoption of NIO’s EVs and battery-swapping infrastructure in Germany’s growing EV market.
Additionally, in Sweden, Nio partnered with Cabonline, the largest taxi network in the Nordic region, in May 2024.Â
Nio has 54 stations throughout its European markets with most of them (36) being located in Germany and Norway. The Netherlands has ten while Sweden has seven and Denmark only one.
