Nio announced Thursday it signed a partnership with Mastercard in Shanghai to collaborate on user services, payment solutions, and global business expansion. The partnership includes plans to offer Mastercard cardholders access to Nio’s battery-swapping technology, maintenance, car rental, and travel services.

The companies will also work on integrating in-car payment systems for Nio vehicles, enabling users to pay for services such as charging, parking, and tolls without leaving their vehicles.

In a statement, Nio’s co-founder and president Lihong Qin said the company will “offer more value-added services to global users, creating car ownership, travel, and business experiences that exceed expectations, and supporting Nio’s global market expansion and business growth.”

Following the announcement of last month’s deliveries, the electric vehicle maker has increased incentives for the last month of 2024, including price adjustments on the vehicle’s interior, loyalty benefits, and trade-in offers.
