Nio Offers 0% Financing on Its Flagship SUV in Germany Through Year-End

Nio said on Thursday it has begun offering its EL8 SUV in Germany with a 0% financing plan, expanding sales incentives for its largest and most expensive model outside China.

In Germany, Nio’s vehicle sales fell nearly 35% year over year in the first nine months of 2025 as the Shanghai-headquartered EV maker continues working to clear remaining inventory from its 2022 and 2023 model years.

The premium brand sold 20 vehicles in September, down 9.1% year over year.

Germany’s Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) — the Federal Motor Transport Authority — doesn’t break down registrations by model, making it unclear how many EL8 units the premium brand sold last month.

Over the first nine months of the year, Nio has sold 211 vehicles to both private and business customers.

The Chinese automaker announced that customers in Europe’s largest car market can lease the second-generation EL8 — the European version of its ES8 — from €787 per month, including the company’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription.

The offer, available until the year end, applies to existing inventory vehicles and includes a 48-month term with no interest charges.

The three-row SUV is Nio’s flagship model in Europe.

It carries a different name from its Chinese counterpart, the ES8, due to a longstanding trademark dispute with Audi over the “ES” model prefix.

The promotion comes as Nio’s newest version of the model — the third-generation ES8 — faces extended delivery times in China.

The company unveiled the updated SUV last month in Hangzhou during its annual Nio IN event, where new orders now face a waiting period of up to six months.

In Europe, the EV maker currently sells vehicles in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

However, new markets such as Greece, Belgium, Portugal and others are preparing to begin the first deliveries of both Nio and Firefly brands.

In June, Nio announced a flexible subscription campaign.
