Nio November Exports Slip 2.8% From October, CPCA Data Shows

Nio exported 419 vehicles in November, down 2.8% from October, according to data released Monday by the China Passenger Car Association.

The figure marks the second-highest monthly export total for the Shanghai-headquartered group this year, as it continues expanding into new European and Asian markets.

Domestic retail sales totaled 35,856 units in November, a 10.3% decline from October’s 39,966 units, the CPCA data showed.

The company reported delivering 36,275 vehicles globally in November as it aims to reach between 120,000 and 125,000 units for the final quarter of the year.

According to data compiled by EV, Nio Group registered 70 vehicles across its seven European markets in November as the German market posted its lowest result in nearly three years.

Globally, November deliveries included 18,393 units of the Nio main brand, 11,794 units of Onvo, and 6,088 units of Firefly.

European Expansion

Since debuting in Norway in November 2021, Nio has sold approximately 5,000 units across its European markets, Li said last month amid a visit to Europe.

A year after arriving in the Norwegian market — where currently 97 out of 100 vehicles sold are fully electric — the EV maker expanded to Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Later, it started selling its vehicles in Israel via a local distributor before arriving in the UAE under its joint venture NIO MENA.

The new wave of expansion is ongoing and the company has officially launched in Austria, Greece, and Portugal last month.

It also delivered its first Firefly unit in Belgium on November 28, one day after its first vehicle delivery in Denmark, where it is relaunching with a dealership-based model following weaker-than-expected direct sales.

Nio plans to open its first dealership in Denmark early next year — its distributor said last week.

The company founded and led by William Li announced that a shipment of Firefly vehicles departed from Shanghai for Europe without disclosing how many units were sent to the Old Continent.

Nio exported 1,244 vehicles between August and November.

The company shipped 98 vehicles in March but did not send another batch until August.

Nio plans to enter several additional countries next year, including Costa Rica, Singapore, Romania, Czechia, Poland, and Luxembourg.

The company also confirmed plans to enter Armenia after EV exclusively reported the expansion in October.

As of press time, Nio‘s US-listed shares are trading 0.8% higher during Monday’s pre-market trading session at $5.08.

The stock closed at $5.04 on Friday and has gained 15.6% year to date.
