Nio Group has added Poland to its international mobile app, signaling progress toward the Chinese EV maker’s expansion to the country as it prepares to enter its 12th European market.
The addition of Poland to the app’s list of available countries was spotted on Monday by EV, though the company has not publicly announced a launch date or any details for the market.
Nio announced in June 2025 its third European expansion wave, with seven new markets planned over 18 months: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, and Romania.
Both the Nio and Firefly brands were included in the expansion plans, with no mention of Onvo.
Since then, the company has not shared any public updates on the timing of its Polish launch.
Local Partner
Hungarian-based AutoWallis, one of the major distributors in the Central and Eastern European region, will serve as Nio‘s local sales and service partner in Poland.
The company will also handle the Czech Republic and Romania markets later this year.
AutoWallis already operates as Nio‘s distributor in Hungary and Austria, which the brand recently entered.
Last week, Nio‘s Hungarian distributor opened its first showroom in Budapest and delivered the brand’s inaugural vehicle in the market.
For Belgium and Luxembourg, Nio cooperates with Hedin Mobility Group.
Expected Lineup
Although the lineup for the Polish market has not been announced, it is expected to mirror offerings in other AutoWallis-operated markets, which include the second-generation ET5 sedan, the ET5 Touring station wagon, the second-generation EL6 five-seat SUV (known as ES6 in China), and the second-generation EL8 flagship SUV.
Firefly, Nio‘s budget sub-brand, is also expected to be available in the market.
Gen 2 vs. Gen 2.5
Nio launched the second-generation ES6 (EL6 in Europe) in China in 2023, based on the NT 2.0 platform.
However, the brand stopped producing the second generation last May when it upgraded both the ES6 and EC6 to the NT 2.5 platform aiming to increase demand.
At the time, the EV maker said the new iteration of both models feature “a 40% hardware refresh and over 200 features as standard configuration.”
The company’s co-founder and president Lihong Qin said the 5 and 6 series models will be revamped again in 2027.
Luxembourg
The first Nio and Firefly vehicles have recently arrived at a Luxembourg showroom ahead of the brand’s official market launch scheduled for later this month.
The Hedin Mobility Group has a second-generation EL8 flagship SUV, a second-generation EL6 crossover, and the debut model from Firefly at its showroom.
Nio’s official launch event in Luxembourg is scheduled for this month, according to information shared during the ‘GO Electric Day’ event held last October in the country.
European Footprint
Nio Group is currently present across 11 European markets: Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Hungary, and Belgium, with Luxembourg set to join.
Outside Europe, the EV maker is available in Singapore, Israel, the UAE, and Uzbekistan.
Costa Rica will become the first market in the Americas for the brand later this year.
Markets such as Brazil and Spain are currently being considered.
