Nio Marks Milestone with Exclusive 9-Unit Edition of Flagship Sedan ET9

Nio launched on Wednesday a new limited edition of its flagship executive sedan ET9, as the company celebrates the one-millionth vehicle rolling off the production line.

The ‘ET9 One-Millionth Vehicle Commemorative Limited Edition’ is capped at just nine units, with three under each theme — ‘Mirror of the Sky,’ ‘Dawn at Daybreak,’ and ‘Golden Mountains in the Sun.’

The EV maker said on Wednesday that the model features “exclusive” design details and is priced from 710,000 yuan ($101,665), if customers opt for the Battery as a Service (BaaS) system, which allows owners to use Nio‘s battery swap stations throughout China.

If purchasing the vehicle with the battery included, it is priced from 818,000 yuan, equivalent to $117,130.

The special edition is priced 50,000 yuan above the standard version of the model, which begins at 660,000 yuan ($94,500) for customers leasing the battery separately. With the battery included, the ET9 starts at 788,000 yuan ($112,830).

Upon the model’s launch, Nio‘s founder and CEO William Li wrote on Weibo that the commemorative edition “is not only to mark the rollouot of Nio‘s one-millionth mass-produced vehicle, but also to pay tribute to innovative pioneers across all industries.”

“Reaching one million vehicles is a major milestone in Nio‘s growth journey and, more importantly, a new starting point toward the future,” Li added.

The Shanghai-based company marked the milestone on Tuesday with a ceremony in Hefei, where its manufacturing operations are located, and during which the vehicle — a unit of the new ES8 — was delivered.

There, the chief executive revealed that the company is targeting a 40-50% year-over-year growth in vehicle deliveries, suggesting that 2026 figures are targeted at between 456,000 and 489,000 units.

ET9 Launch

The ET9 debuted at the ‘Nio Day’ annual event in the final days of 2024.

The model features the company’s in-house developed Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, a steer-by-wire system and an integrated hydraulic fully active suspension, among others.

By then, the company unveiled a ‘First Edition,’ capped at 999 units, which sold out within 12 hours.

Nio began deliveries of the ET9 four months later. In the final three days of March, the EV maker delivered 89 units of the sedan.

Deliveries rose to 810 units in April — the first full month of sales — and declined slightly to 682 in May. The figures halved in the following month.

In the third quarter, the total monthly deliveries — each below 100 units — still didn’t match June’s numbers.

ET9 Demand

In mid-July, Nio filed for a new version of the flagship sedan, the ET9 Horizon Edition — which adopts a two-tone body scheme and a brand-new wheel design.

The new edition was launched in mid-September and deliveries began in the last week of the month.

Despite surpassing 100 units in both October and November, sales remain low for a model that Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin previously said would reach “approximately 1,500” units per month.

The ET9 represents a residual share of Nio‘s total deliveries.

In November, the premium brand delivered 18,393 vehicles, of which only 0.6% were the executive sedan.

The company was able to sharply increase delivery figures in the final months of 2025, with the launch of the new iteration of its ES8 SUV, for which demand was strong.

In December, Nio delivered 31,897 vehicles from its main premium brand, totaling 48,135 units when including Onvo and Firefly — a new record for the company.

As of press time, the delivery breakdown by model for December had not yet been disclosed by China’s Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
