Nio Launches Special Edition ES6, Offers 1 Year Battery Swaps, 5 Years of AD Software

Nio introduced a commemorative edition of its entry-level SUV ES6 on Monday, two weeks after having produced the 300,000th unit of the model at one of its EV plants in Hefei, Anhui Province.

The Shanghai-based EV maker announced that the special edition starts at 349,800 yuan ($49,270) for outright purchase or 241,800 yuan ($34,060) under its battery-as-a-service subscription model.

The new pricing represents a slight increase of 3.5% when compared to the previous iteration.

Nio is offering limited-time purchase incentives to buyers who lock in orders by November 30, including one year of free battery swaps (capped at 48 vouchers), five years of free NOP+ autonomous driving features, and 50% discounts on select optional equipment.

Additional benefits tied to the Guangzhou Auto Show were also included without specific details disclosed.

May 2025 Upgrade

Last May, the company founded and led by William Li launched a new iteration of its 6-series SUVs: the five seat SUV ES6 and the Coupe SUV EC6.

The ES6 was priced at 338,000 yuan and the new iteration of the EC6 at 358,000 yuan.

With battery subscription of Battery as a Service (BaaS), the starting price is 268,000 yuan and 288,000 yuan, respectively.

Deliveries of that new version began on May 20, with also several limited-time purchase offers to customers locking orders before the end of June

Design Differentiation

The 300,000-unit commemorative edition announced on Monday features exclusive “Milestone Edition” badging, including a metal tailgate emblem, dedicated door sill plates, a new interior color option and special headrest embroidery.

Nio emphasized in a social media post that the ES6 remains the best-selling pure electric vehicle above 300,000 yuan among Chinese brands and the first model from a domestic manufacturer to achieve 300,000 units of production in that price segment.

The SUV has undergone three generational updates since its initial launch seven years ago.

Standard Equipment Value

The commemorative edition includes approximately 29,400 yuan worth of standard equipment that would otherwise be optional add-ons, according to promotional materials.

Standard features include the NOMI Mate 3.0 digital assistant valued at 4,900 yuan, a queen co-pilot seat worth 8,500 yuan, 20-inch multi-spoke wheels priced at 3,500 yuan, an atmosphere package with intelligent fragrance system at 3,000 yuan, and a Moon package of features valued at 4,500 yuan.

Last September, at its annual event, Nio launched the ET9 Horizon Edition, a special edition that adopts a two-tone body scheme and a brand-new wheel design.

The EV maker delivered 127 units of its flagship model in October, up 41.1% from the 90 units recorded in September and marking the model’s best month since June.
