Nio Launches Refreshed ES6 and EC6 SUVs with Unchanged Pricing

Nio officially launched on Friday its refreshed ES6 and EC6 SUVs in its home market, with deliveries scheduled to begin on May 20. The timeline for the introduction in the European and Middle Eastern markets remains unknown.

As previously reported, pre-orders for the refreshed versions of both SUVs and the ET5 and ET5 Touring sedans opened on May 10.

The entry-level ES6 SUV with a 75kWh battery option is priced from 338,000 yuan ($46,900), while the 100 kWh version, starts at 396,000 yuan ($55,000) — maintining the same pricing of the previous iteration.

With BaaS (battery as a service), the starting price lowers to 268,000 yuan ($37,200). However, battery rental costs 728 yuan ($100) and 1,128 yuan ($160) for each of the battery packs.

The batteries’ range has gone up to 510 km for the standard battery and 610 km for the upper one. The powertrain remains AWD (all-wheel drive) with 360 kW power output.

Earlier on Friday, William Li said on a social media post that he “pulled off a high-speed blowout test at 125km/h in livestreaming, both tires on the same side blew, and the new ES6 handled it perfectly steady and safe.”

EC6’s prices begin at 358,000 yuan ($49,700) or 288,000 yuan ($40,000) with BaaS — meaning the price didn’t change from the 2024 iteration, introduced in February. The EC6 was initially launched in 2019, with first deliveries beginning in September 2020.

According to the Nio app, by ordering any of the two SUVs until June 30, drivers can get a 5 year-plan of free battery swap.

The offer also covers 5 years of Nio’s NOP+ (Navigate On Pilot), a driver assistance feature launched a year ago, and 50 battery flexibility upgrade vouchers.

The AC charging/discharging kit is available as a free option, and drivers who choose not to add it will receive a 5,000 yuan ($700) credit for other options.

The updated ES6 and EC6 come with the Shenji smart driving chip, developed in-house (contrarily to the previous use of Nvidia chips), which runs on Nio’s proprietary SkyOS operating system.

The brand’s in-car AI assistant Nomi got an update to feature better interaction with the passengers.

Design-wise, the models adopt several elements from the brand’s ET9 sedan, including a horizontal central display and a column-mounted gear selector that enables wireless charging for two smartphones on the center console.

The ES6 is Nio‘s best-selling model, with over 75,000 units delivered in 2024. Between May 5 and 11, the entry-level SUV represented 1,630 units from the total 3,900 vehicles registered. The brand sold 530 EC6s.

The company led by William Li aims to double vehicle deliveries this year to 440,000 units, including sales from its sub-brands Onvo and Firefly.

As of April 30, the group had delivered 65,994 units year to date, completing about 15% of its target.
