Nio has launched a new limited edition on Tuesday for its ET5 sedan and ET5T station wagon in China, as it aims to increase demand for its entry-level models ahead of the year-end.
Over the last few months, the company announced several limited editions across its three brands Nio, Onvo and Firefly. The latter is preparing to launch a new edition related to the Chinese New Year in early 2026.
Nio’s New ‘Far Sky’ Edition, limited to 555 units and priced slightly higher than the normal edition, features an exclusive purple exterior color while bringing several features as standard.
It further includes interior ambient lighting and a soft-touch interior wrapping, an intelligent panoramic glass roof, and a seat comfort package, valued at approximately 21,230 yuan (about $3,000).
The new edition is available with 75 kWh or 100 kWh batteries, resulting in a CLTC range of 550 km and 710 km, respectively.
Built on the same NT2.5 platform, the vehicles are equipped with Nio‘s self-developed Shenji NX9031 chip and support the Nio World Model (NWM) assisted driving software.
The dual-motor setup delivers 490 horsepower and a peak torque of 700 Nm.
The limited edition of the ET5 is priced from 313,000 yuan, equivalent to $44,410, starting from 205,000 yuan ($29,090) if opting for the Battery as a Service (BaaS) option.
Pricing for the ET5T ‘Far Sky’ Edition begins at 316,000 yuan ($44,840), dropping to 208,000 yuan ($29,500) when adopting Nio’s Battery as a Service program where customers lease the battery.
ET5 and ET5T Sales
Sales of the ET5 sedan have been generally declining in China since the beginning of the year.
Last month, 984 Nio ET5s were delivered in its domestic market, a 48% drop year over year and about 400 units below October’s registrations.
The ET5T accounted for 3,205 of the total 18,174 vehicles sold by the Nio brand in November, its lowest monthly figures since May.
The numbers represent a 23% decline from a year ago and are 29% down from October.
Registrations of the station wagon have fluctuated over the past few months. However, November marks the second consecutive month of a sales drop for the model.
In October, Nio launched a new limited-edition version of its station wagon model, the ET5T ‘Dark Shadow’ Edition, limited to 555 units.
The edition was part of the company’s role as an official co-promotion partner for Disney’s TRON: Ares film.
The ET5T, which was Nio‘s best-selling model from June to September, was outperformed by the new ES8 in October.
It represented 37.2% of all Nio sales in September, dropping to 17.6% in November, while the ES8, for which production is ramping up, represented 58.7%.
The company has shifted focus towards its recent three-row SUVs — the Nio ES8 and the Onvo L90 — in the final months of 2025, as it aims for ambitious delivery targets and to reach its first profitable quarter.
Refreshed ET5 and ET5T
The standard versions of both models, which were revamped last May, are priced from 298,000 yuan ($42,285).
If opting for Nio‘s BaaS, the price begins at 190,000 yuan ($26,960), with a monthly battery fee of 728 yuan ($103).
Earlier this year, Nio unveiled the refreshed versions of its entry-level models — including not only the ET5 and ET5T, but also the EC6 and ES6 SUVs.
The more recent iterations of the ET5 sedan and ET5T models feature more than 500 upgraded parts and a 45% refresh rate, while keeping prices unchanged from the previous versions.
Prior Versions Lead Sales in Europe
Nio currently sells 2023 and 2024 versions of its ET5 and ET5 Touring in Europe.
In an effort to clear its inventory across European markets, the company has launched several incentives over the past few months, which have led to a sales surge of the entry-level models.
According to data from the first 14 days of December, registration figures across the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway have already led to a sales surge in Europe, both sequentially and year over year.
In the Dutch market, the sales surge is led mostly by the entry-level ET5 and ET5 Touring models, which together account for 59 of the total 92 units sold by the Nio Group in the first two weeks of the month.
In Sweden, the ET5/ET5 Touring series represented 55 units out of 61 vehicles registered so far.
