As reported by EV on May 30, the electric vehicle maker Nio launched on Thursday its flagship SUV in several European countries, including Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. Pre-orders for the Nio EL8 are now open, with deliveries expected to start in September.
Initially launched in China in late 2022, the EL8 has been refreshed with the new Executive variant priced in Germany at €108,900 with battery included and at €87,900 with the Battery as a Service system.
The Executive variant includes features like a smart refrigerator and massage functions for added luxury.
The Shanghai-headquartered brand will be affected by the additional tariff imposed by the European Commission earlier this week valued at 21 percent. The tariff is expected to be applied on July 4.

The 2022-23 version starts at €94,900 in the German market when buying with the battery while the battery subscription service, which allow users to swap the battery of the car in a few minutes, starts at €82,900.

The model offers a peak charging power of up to 240 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent state of charge in just 20 minutes at 400-volt (660 A) DC fast chargers.
When equipped with a 100-kWh long-range battery, the EL8 delivers a maximum range of 510 kilometers according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).
The vehicle features a dual motor setup providing 480 kW of power and all-wheel drive, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
Amid a legal battle with Audi over trademark rights to the “ES” naming convention for its SUV models in Europe, Nio will name the European version of the ES8 as the EL8, mirroring the strategy adopted for its smaller SUVs, the EL6 and EL7, introduced in Europe last year.
In its home market, the All-New ES8 starts at 498,000 rmb, equivalent to $68,700 and €63,500 while the most upper version starts at 598,000 rmb ($82,500).
