Chinese EV maker Nio sold a record 107 electric vehicles in the Netherlands in December, according to data published on Friday by the country’s automotive industry association BOVAG.
For the full year, the Shanghai-based EV maker — which sells two of its three brands in the Dutch Market — registered 254 vehicles.
Despite the surge in the last month of the year, however, 2025 sales stood below the 2024 figures, when the brand sold 263 vehicles.
Nio Brand
Last month, a total of 85 Nio vehicles were registered in the Netherlands — marking a record monthly sales figure since the brand entered the country in 2022.
In November, only one vehicle had been sold. Compared to December 2024, sales have increased fourfold, up from 20 units.
The company’s entry-level ET5 models represented 59 out of the 85 vehicles sold in December.
The data does not distinguish between the ET5 sedan and the station wagon variant, the ET5 Touring. In the whole year, a total of 114 units of the series were sold.
According to a post by Nio Nederland on LinkedIn, customers were offered an additional trade-in bonus when purchasing inventory units of the ET5 or ET5T models, which was valid until December 31.
Up until ten days before, the company also provided a special 1.99% interest rate on purchases of the two models when included the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription.
The EL6 SUV represented the 26 remaining units registered last month.
Firefly
Deliveries for its sub-brand Firefly began in mid-November in both Norway and the Netherlands.
Since then, the company has sold a total of 54 Firefly vehicles in the Dutch market.
Of these, 22 units were registered in December, nearly tripling from the eight units sold a month before.
The company ran a Black Friday discount of €5,000 ($5,876) on the Firefly debut model from November 24 to December 7.
The model starts at €29,900 and is available in both the ‘first edition’ and ‘comfort’ versions. The latter is priced roughly €3,000 higher than the base model.
In Norway, 46 Firefly electric vehicles were sold in December, out of 69 sold throughout the entire year.
In the same month, the Nio Group registered a total of 131 vehicles in the country.
In recent months, Firefly has been introduced into new markets alongside the Nio brand, including Austria, Portugal, Greece, and Denmark, where it was recently relaunched.
It is still unclear whether the brand will be introduced in Germany and Sweden, where Nio has been present for over three years.
