The music and video content distribution Stingray announced Monday that signed a partnership with the Shanghai-based electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio to launch Stingray Karaoke across the five European markets.
Last year, in August 2023, BYD said it would also bring Stingray’s feature to “a dozen countries in 2023” with the rest to follow in the coming years. The Canada-headquartered startup reaches 540 million consumers across 160 countries.
Stingray’s karaoke will be available at no cost for a period of three years and will apply to all Nio vehicles sold in Europe over the next two years.
“Transforming every journey into a fun and engaging karaoke session with friends and family fits perfectly with our brand DNA,” Nio’s Director of Product Experience Benjamin Steinmetz said in a statement.
The Stingray Karaoke service enables drivers and passengers to participate in interactive karaoke sessions, whether the vehicle is in motion or stationary while charging.
Additionally, a QR code-activated application provides passengers with access to lyrics, playback controls, and the ability to sing along using their smartphones.
In July 2023, amid the opening of its Innovation Center in Berlin, Germany, Nio signed a partnership with ScreenHitsTV allowing drivers to access live TV and streaming apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Disney+.
