Nio delivered 118 units of its flagship ET9 sedan in November, a 7% decline from October, according to data released Monday by the China Passenger Car Association.
The result comes in the same month the Shanghai-headquartered EV maker introduced two new themed colors for the model at the Guangzhou Auto Show, part of its efforts to increase demand for its most expensive vehicle.
The ET9 has struggled to maintain momentum since its March launch.
After delivering 810 units in April — its first full month of sales — and 682 in May, deliveries plummeted to 307 in June and 85 in July.
The company has averaged roughly 100 units per month over the past five months.
Horizon Edition Push
Nio launched the Horizon Edition in September, adding features and design changes including a dual-tone body design to the executive sedan.
Prices for the variant begin at 818,000 yuan ($115,700) when purchasing the vehicle with the battery, or 710,000 yuan ($100,400) under the company’s battery-as-a-service subscription plan.
Deliveries of the edition began in the final days of September, with sales impact more notable in October when the company recorded 127 units — up 41.1% from September’s 90 and the model’s best month since June.
On November 21, Nio unveiled two new color themes for the Horizon Edition at the Guangzhou Auto Show: ‘First Light’ and ‘Sunlit Peak’.
Minimal Contribution to Brand Sales
The ET9 represented just 0.6% of the Nio brand’s 18,393 deliveries in November, underscoring the model’s niche positioning within the company’s lineup.
The best selling model was the recently launched third generation ES8 with 10,680 units, followed by the station wagon ET5 Touring with 3,200 and the ES6 SUV with 2,260.
As of the end of November, Nio has delivered approximately 2,392 ET9 vehicles since the model’s launch.
The sedan remains available only in China.
Model Positioning
The ET9 is Nio‘s most expensive model, with a starting price of 768,000 yuan ($108,600) including the battery — more than twice the entry price of the ES6, the brand’s best-selling SUV at 338,000 yuan ($47,800).
The sedan features Nio‘s in-house developed Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, a steer-by-wire system, and an integrated hydraulic fully active suspension.
Launched at Nio‘s annual event in December 2024, the ET9’s 999-unit First Edition sold out within 12 hours.
Deliveries began on March 29, with 89 units handed over in the final three days of the month.
Launched at Nio‘s annual event in December 2024, the ET9 sold out its 999-unit First Edition within 12 hours.
Export Figures
Separately, Nio exported 419 vehicles in November across all models, down 2.8% from October’s 431 units, CPCA data showed earlier on Monday,
The figures cover exports of the premium NIO brand, the family-oriented Onvo, and the newly launched Firefly sub-brand.
