Nio Delivers 127 ET9s in China in October, Best Month Since June

Nio delivered 127 units of its flagship model in October, up 41.1% from the 90 units recorded in September and marking the model’s best month since June.

Sales of the ET9 executive sedan bounced as Nio begun deliveries of the new ‘Horizon Edition’ variant which unveiled at its annual event last September.

The Shanghai-based premium electric vehicle maker had delivered fewer than 100 units of the model in July, August and September, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released Tuesday.

The last time sales exceeded 100 units was in June, when Nio registered 307 vehicles.

Despite the monthly increase, the ET9 represented just 0.74% of the Nio brand’s total deliveries in October.

The company founded and led by William Li delivered 17,143 vehicles under its main brand during the month.

Delivery Performance Since Launch

Nio began deliveries of the ET9 on March 29 after launching the model in the final days of 2024.

In the final three days of March, the company delivered 89 units.

Deliveries surged to 810 units in April — the first full month of sales — before declining sharply in subsequent months.

As of the end of October, Nio had delivered a total of 2,282 ET9 vehicles since the model’s launch.

The model has not yet been made available in any market outside China.

Pricing and Specifications

The ET9 is Nio‘s most expensive model, with a starting price of 768,000 yuan ($107,800) including the battery pack — more than twice the starting price of the ES6 SUV, Nio‘s best-selling model, which begins at 338,000 yuan ($47,500).

The ET9 is available through Nio‘s battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program, which lowers the starting price to 660,000 yuan ($92,800) for customers leasing the battery separately.

The sedan features what Nio calls its most advanced suite of technologies to date, including its Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, a steer-by-wire system, a next-generation digital cockpit, and an integrated hydraulic fully active suspension.

Launched at Nio‘s annual event in December 2024, the ET9 sold out its 999-unit First Edition within 12 hours.

New Horizon Edition

In mid-July, Nio filed for a new version of the flagship sedan, the ET9 Horizon Edition, which adopts a two-tone body scheme and a brand-new wheel design.

The new edition was launched in mid-September with deliveries beginning in the last week of the month.

Prices for the Horizon Edition begin at 818,000 yuan ($115,000) when acquiring the model with the battery.

In the same week, the company started rolling out a new software update for the ET9, introducing improvements to both the smart cockpit and the assisted driving system.

The Nio Group delivered 40,397 vehicles in October, a new record for the EV maker for the third consecutive month.

October marked the third month of 2025 where sales of the Nio brand in China did not fall year-over-year.
