Nio Brand Weekly Sales Rise 4% in Third Week of July

Domestic sales of Nio’s premium brand rose 3.7% in the third week of July, according to data shared on Chinese social media on Tuesday.

The brand, which is preparing to launch a special edition of its executive sedan ET9, registered 2,500 vehicles between July 14 and 20.

Nio had recorded 2,500 units in the first week of July and 2,410 in the second one — the lowest result since the first week of the second quarter.

Nio’s sales rose 10% month-on-month to 14,593 units in June but declined on a year-over-year basis for the second consecutive month.

In June 2024, the company delivered 21,209 vehicles — still its monthly record for the main brand. Compared with that figure, last month’s sales were down 31.2%.

In total, the three brands of the group — Nio, Onvo, and Firefly — posted 4,900 insurance registrations in China last week, a 19.5% increase from 4,100 the previous week.

The total indicates that Onvo and Firefly brands combined insured 2,400 vehicles in the third week of the quarter.

However, as of the time of writing, detailed figures for each brand have not yet been disclosed.

Firefly began deliveries of its debut model in late April, and Onvo will start delivering its second model on the first day of August, twenty-four hours after the official launch event.

Over the weekend, the company’s founder and CEO William Li said the store traffic for the upcoming Onvo L90 “remains strong.”

Earlier this month, Nio also unveiled the Champion Edition for several models in its lineup. The variants are aimed at celebrating the company’s championship title in the 2015 Formula E.

The ET5 and ET5T Champion Editions are priced from 316,000 yuan ($44,000) if including the battery, or 246,000 yuan ($34,300) if choosing to lease it — both 18,000 yuan ($2,500) above their standard versions.

The EC6 coupe SUV also got a Champion Edition, with prices starting at 370,000 yuan ($51,600) with the battery and 300,000 yuan ($41,800) if choosing Nio‘s BaaS.

The three models, plus the ES6 SUV, were last upgraded in May. Its main difference from the previous iteration is the chip, as the EV maker replaced Nvidia’s Orin for its Shenji chip.

The revamped version of the ES8 SUV will be officially unveiled at Nio Day 2025, the EV maker’s annual event, which was anticipated for late September.
