According to registration data shared on Chinese social media this Tuesday, Nio Group‘s sub-brand Firefly has sold 1,125 vehicles in its domestic market last week.
Compared to the first week of September, when it had listed 1,090 vehicles, registrations between September 8 and 14 rose by 3.2%.
From the beginning of July until mid-August, Firefly‘s weekly registrations in China had been below 1,000 units.
Firefly sales hit a new record in August, with registrations across its domestic market and the first vehicles registered across Europe — where it just recently started delivering its model — first in Norway and the Netherlands.
From August 14 through August 31, two Firefly units were delivered in Norway.
In the Netherlands, deliveries of the Nio Group included six vehicles of the sub-brand.
The brand has recently sold its first vehicle in Belgium, ahead of its official launch in the European country.
Additionally, Nio started showcasing a Firefly EV at one of the main shopping malls of the Greek capital Athens.
The temporary showroom opened in early August and initially featured the Nio EL6 (ES6), Nio’s entry-level SUV in Europe.
Firefly is entering several European markets along the main Nio brand, through local dealerships.
According to Nio‘s founder and CEO William Li, a second model under the Firefly brand is not in the company’s plans for 2026.
The Group has said earlier this month that it expects its production capacity of the Firefly model to peak at 6,000 units per month in the final quarter of the year.
Last week, the brand’s debut model was ranked five starts in both the Euro NCAP and China’s NCAP safety tests, outperforming its direct rivals, the Renault 5 EV and the BYD Dolphin Surf.
The Nio Group participated in the IAA Munich Auto Show from September 9 to 14.
Firefly‘s debut model was showcased at Horizon Robotics’ stand, instead of the Nio booth.
The Beijing-based chip developer announced in April that it was providing the chips for the Firefly debut model, as the Nio brand switches to the in-house developed Shenji chip and Onvo uses Nvidia’s Orin X.
