Firefly Weekly Registrations Rise 29% as It Unveils First Right-Hand-Drive Market

Nio’s newly launched sub-brand Firefly recorded 880 vehicle registrations in China last week, up from 684 in the first full week of August. That marks a 28.7% increase between August 11 and 17.

The entry-level brand, launched by founder William Li in Guangzhou last December, began deliveries in China last April.

Registrations from last week represent the strongest result since the final week of the second quarter as the brand recovers from the constraints it faced late last month at its Hefei plant.

Firefly also started European deliveries last week, nearly four years after the core brand Nio entered the continent.

The company did not disclose volumes, but registration data show six vehicles in the Netherlands and one in Norway in the first half of August.

On Monday, Nio said Firefly will expand to Singapore in 2026, marking the group’s first right-hand-drive market. In Costa Rica and Uzbekistan, the newly announced markets, only the Nio and Onvo marques will be available.

Across all brands, Nio’s weekly registrations in China rose 17.9% to 7,190, compared with 6,100 the previous week.

The Nio marque contributed 2,520 registrations, a 16.7% increase from 2,160. Onvo, the mid-market brand launched in May, registered 3,790 vehicles, its second-highest weekly tally, up 17.0% from 3,240.

Although the management has guided for about 25,000 monthly deliveries for each Nio and Onvo brands in the final quarter of the year, the Firefly brand has no public sales target.

In 2025, Nio Group aims to deliver about 440,000 vehicles — doubling last year’s figures.

To reach that target, the company founded and led by William Li needs to deliver slightly above 300,000 units in the final five months of the year.
