Nio‘s more affordable sub-brand Firefly delivered 7,084 vehicles globally in December, as reported by the company on the first day of 2026.
The Group disclosed that it delivered a total of 48,135 vehicles last month, with Firefly accounting for a 14.7% share.
According to figures published by China’s Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Friday, Firefly‘s sales in China totaled 6,695 units in the last month of 2025.
The numbers indicate that a total of 389 vehicles were registered outside of its domestic market, as Nio continues to expand its presence mainly across Europe and Asia.
CPCA data also showed that a total of 750 vehicles from the Nio Group were exported last month, which suggests that Firefly represented more than half of those.
European Figures
Firefly debuted in Europe in mid-August, with deliveries starting in the Netherlands and in Norway.
In December, 46 Firefly EVs were sold in Norway, a nearly sevenfold jump from the 6 units of the previous month.
Between August 14 and December 31, a total 69 vehicles were listed in the country — far below the management’s readjusted goal of 200 units for 2025.
Firefly registered 22 vehicles in the Dutch market last month, and a total of 53 vehicles until the end of the year.
Its results in the Netherlands also reflected a surge in the final month of the year, driven by discounts Firefly introduced for the model in both markets in early December.
Nio recently entered several markets in the Old Continent, introducing both its premium brand and Firefly EVs there.
As part of its strategy to boost demand in Europe through new launches, the company formed partnerships with local distributor groups in Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Greece, and Denmark, where it is relaunching its operations.
The company also announced expansion to Hungary, Cyprus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Poland this year.
As of press time, most of these countries had not disclosed vehicle registration figures from December. In Denmark, one Firefly vehicle was sold.
Considering the known figures, Firefly‘s December deliveries in Europe are estimated to be above 76 units, representing nearly one in each five units registered.
Singapore Launch
Partnering with local dealer Wearnes Automotive, Nio launched in Singapore on Thursday, introducing its more affordable brand in the market.
The company opened pre-sale orders for the Firefly EV, unveiled at the Singapore Motorshow 2026.
Nio began mass-producing right-hand drive Firefly vehicles in November.
The right-hand drive configuration of its debut model was first spotted in early October at the company’s UK engineering facilities.
However, the first right-hand drive market where it began taking orders was Macau, late last year, to which Singapore follows.
On Thursday, Nio‘s head of global business Chris Chen said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the Firefly brand will be arriving in Thailand in March.
Australia and New Zealand are markets confirmed to follow.
2025 Deliveries
Firefly delivered 39,414 EVs in 2025, a 12% share of the combined sales of the three Nio Group brands.
“As a brand officially launched this year, Firefly achieved five consecutive months of delivery growth,” Nio‘s founder and CEO William Li stated earlier this week.
The brand saw its “market share in the premium small-car segment continuing to climb and exceeding 61%, ranking first for seven consecutive months,” the chief executive added.
Launched in late March, the brand’s deliveries grew steadily each month, reaching their peak in December — except for July, when sales fell sharply.
The Nio Group is targeting 40-50% annual delivery growth in 2026, as disclosed by the CEO at a ceremony marking the rollout of the company’s one-millionth mass-produced vehicle.
The percentage suggests that the company aims to deliver between 456,000 and 489,000 EVs this year.
