Firefly, one of the sub-brands of Nio Group, is preparing to launch a third limited-edition variant in early 2026 focused on the Chinese New Year, brand’s chief Daniel Jin said in a media session in Shenzhen attended by EV.
Jin said the upcoming version of Firefly‘s debut model will be a Chinese New Year special edition, but did not provide further details on specifications or pricing.
International availability of Firefly‘s limited editions will depend on local distributors.
“This has to be connected and discussed with our local partner. If the local partners raise their hand and say ‘Hey, I want the Special Edition,’ we will deliver,” Jin said when asked whether special editions could be sold outside China.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, falls in mid-February 2026, with public holidays running from February 15 to February 23.
The detailed launch timeline of the new edition was not disclosed.
Firefly launched in China in late 2024 with deliveries beginning in April.
The brand offers two variants priced at 119,800 yuan ($16,940) and 125,800 yuan ($17,790) with battery included, or 79,800 yuan and 85,800 yuan under Nio‘s battery-as-a-service subscription model with a 399 yuan ($56) monthly battery rental fee.
The BaaS option will enable battery swapping at Nio‘s fifth-generation stations starting in early 2026 as the current generation is not compatible with the brand.
Firefly said over the weekend it delivered 6,088 units in November, up 3% from October’s 5,912 vehicles and marking a third consecutive monthly record.
The brand has delivered 32,330 units between late April and November 30 and aims to reach 100,000 deliveries by the end of 2026, Jin said.
Previous Special Editions
In August, Firefly launched the Nomadic Maillard special edition, priced at 133,800 yuan with battery included and limited to 333 units — 11.7% above the base model. The edition sold out within 30 hours.
In October, the brand introduced the Night Creature Special Edition starting at 136,800 yuan with production limited to 666 units.
The variant features Dark Night Black metallic paint and a G-Force handling package with red high-rigidity springs and dampers. Deliveries began October 23.
The handling package was subsequently made available to all Firefly customers, the company announced during the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Previous monthly delivery peaks included 5,775 units in September and 4,346 in August.
