Nio has launched a local website in Austria for its mass-market sub-brand Firefly, marking another step toward the brand’s planned rollout in the country later this year.
“Firefly is coming to Austria. Compact. Electric. And full of energy,” the company said on its website. “Register now and be among the first to learn more.”
The new site joins the dedicated Austrian page already live for the core Nio brand, as reported on Tuesday.
Pricing details and the timing for first deliveries have not yet been announced for any of the brands.
Both Nio and Firefly are preparing to begin sales in Austria in the coming months through Budapest-based distributor AutoWallis, which was appointed exclusive partner for Austria and Hungary earlier this year.
AutoWallis represents 30 automotive brands across 16 countries, including other Chinese EV makers such as XPeng, BYD and MG.
Firefly unveiled its debut model last December at Nio’s annual event.
Deliveries began in China in April and expanded to Europe in August, starting with the Netherlands and Norway.
Sales volumes remain limited. In September, its first full month of deliveries, the brand registered one unit in the Netherlands.
The Austrian website invites users to register for updates and select preferred models, introducing AutoWallis as Firefly’s local partner.
Nio entered Europe in 2021, starting in Norway before expanding to Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden in 2022.
After slowing its international push in 2023 and 2024, Nio Group has accelerated this year, shifting from a direct-sales model to a dealership approach in new markets.
The company plans further expansion into Austria, Portugal, Belgium and Hungary before year-end, followed by Romania, Armenia, Czechia, Poland and Luxembourg in 2026.
