An enthusiast from hydrogen and battery-electric truck manufacturer Nikola shared three pictures on Facebook on Wednesday, showing around 20 trucks parked at J.B. Hunt’s headquarters.

J.B. Hunt, one of the largest supply chain solution providers in North America, is rumoured to be buying additional Nikola trucks following the order announced one year ago.

In July 2023, Nikola announced that J.B. Hunt ordered 10 battery-electric and three hydrogen fuel cell trucks with the delivery of the vehicles planned for one month later.

“I was driving through Barstow CA [California] today when I glanced over at a JB Hunt Lot and noticed they had about 20 or more Nikola Motor trucks on their lot (…),” the enthusiast wrote on Facebook.

When J.B. Hunt bought the first 13 trucks, the company said they would help the company to “focus on its sustainability efforts and reducing the intensity of its carbon emissions”.

Currently, the trucks used acquired by the supply chain solution provider, are serving its key routes mainly in Los Angeles and Phoenix with Nikola’s hydrogen brand, HYLA, supplying the hydrogen and fueling infrastructure.

Earlier this week, Nikola opened the first commercial hydrogen refueling station in Ontario, Canada. The station was opened together with IT industries, Nikola‘s first dealer partner in the country.

In March, the company inaugurated its first HYLA high-pressure refueling station in Southern California. The Nikola followed up with the opening of a second station in the region two months later.

In July, as the company continues expanding its infrastructure across U.S. and Canada, Nikola’s station located in California achieved a record day by refuelling 28 trucks and dispensing over 850 kg of hydrogen.

The Arizona-based company sold 72 units in the second quarter, bringing its total sales for the first half of the year to 112 units.

Trevor Milton, the founder and former CEO, has discreetly withdrawn his $1 billion lawsuit against several executives of the Arizona-based company.
